<p><strong>As a Principal Data Engineer, you will:</strong></p><ul><li>Design and implement software solutions that turn millions of electric vehicles, smart thermostats, batteries, and other energy IoT devices into resources that help create a cleaner and more resilient grid</li><li>Design and implement systems for ingesting and managing data from core utility software systems, such as meter data management systems, geographic information systems, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), EMS/SCADA and others</li><li>Operate almost completely independently to find potential solutions, design them, identify roadblocks and challenges, and parcel out the work to senior engineers on various different teams</li><li>Build influence across teams and across functions to take on initiatives that impact the whole company, chart out the relevant dependencies and tradeoffs, and help teams execute on the shared roadmap you build</li><li>Develop new ways of connecting our systems to energy markets and the systems that balance the electric grid</li><li>Develop APIs and tools that enable hardware manufacturers and third-party enterprise software systems to integrate with our platform</li><li>Collaborate with our analytics and machine learning teams to deliver new data insights and optimize our virtual power plants</li><li>Improve the scale, automation, and reliability of our massive pipeline of device telemetry, energy, and weather data</li><li>Introduce and devise tools, techniques, and best practices that benefit the entire team</li><li>React to and resolve novel technical, operational, and organizational challenges</li><li>Contribute to our team culture and inclusive environment</li><li>Mentor early career engineers and more senior engineers on the teams you interact with</li></ul><p><strong>Key Skills and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>10+ years professional software development experience</li><li>Python and SQL (of any flavor) experience required</li><li>Experience building out data pipelines and ELT / ETL systems</li><li>Comfortable leading system design and architecture</li><li>Experience with data warehouses (we use Snowflake) and data modeling</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Designing and building data pipelines within an electric utility</li><li>Familiar with tools and technologies like airflow, dbt, AWS kinesis, S3 </li><li>Typical development tools and processes (automated testing, continuous integration/deployment, monitoring systems)</li><li>Java or MongoDB</li><li>Sigma, Tableau or similar BI tools</li></ul><p>Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.</p><p><strong>Why work for EnergyHub?</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Collaborate with outstanding people:</strong> Our employees work hard, do great work, and enjoy collaborating and learning from each other.</li><li><strong>Make an immediate impact:</strong> New employees can expect to be given real responsibility for bringing new technologies to the marketplace.
