The Steam Turbine Engineer is responsible for being the technical conscience of the fleet through the application of mechanical engineering principles and leveraging analytics to create data driven solutions. The Senior Engineer is at the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. They solve complex problems, manage work, and develop innovative ways to streamline process. Senior Engineer is expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are also encouraged to have a fleet level impact while being responsible for assets in the Carolinas region.Responsibilities<ul><li>Provides expertise and guidance on the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of Steam Turbines and the supporting systems, with the ability to visualize long-term impact on a system-wide basis.</li><li>Develops positive relationships and coordinate with many organizations and individuals to ensure major maintenance is prioritized and scheduled correctly based on historical data and existing technical issues. These groups include OEMs, venders, planners and turbine specialists.</li><li>Ensures achievement of business reliability and predictability goals through effective outage planning, estimation, scheduling and monitoring of work activities where only limited standardization exists; handles differing situations which require developing solutions within area of Steam Turbines and the supporting systems.</li><li>Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with the ability to conduct analysis and recommend process enhancements and standards relative to area of assignment.</li><li>Provides a significant 'boots on the ground' engineering presence during planned or emergent outages and other noteworthy events or evolutions on the centerline assets.</li><li>When not directly supporting onsite work, the ST Engineer is engaged in planning, research, reviews, root cause analysis, documentation, etc. to support the availability, reliability, and major maintenance planning for these assets.</li><li>Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develops standards relevant to area of assignment.  Keeps abreast of new developments, technologies procedures and equipment.</li></ul>Specific Actions<ul><li>Provides onsite technical oversite of outage work where necessary.</li><li>Provides technical oversight at vendor shops for quality assurance.</li><li>Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, principles, and procedures to show proficiency in technical and analytical competencies.</li><li>Maintains accurate records and files.</li><li>Monitors and analyzes computer trends for equipment health to influence future or current maintenance requirements.</li></ul>Basic Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program AND 6 years minimum required related work experience.</li><li>A Master’s Degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
