<h2><strong>About the role</strong></h2><p>Muon Space is hiring a Product Manager to own how much data our missions get to the ground, and how we prove it. Reporting to a Director of Product Management, you will own bits-to-ground communications across RF and optical links, simulation, and software test. </p><p>This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office four days per week.</p><h2><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h2><h3>Comms, Simulation and Test</h3><ul><li>Own the product roadmap for bits-to-ground communications across RF and optical (OCT) links.</li><li>Own the product roadmap for Muon Sim, the digital twin behind mission design and mission operations, including the throughput analysis that sets what a constellation can deliver.</li><li>Grow simulation into a tool for software iteration, so flight and ground software can be exercised against the twin before it reaches a spacecraft.</li><li>Own the product roadmap for software test infrastructure, automation, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.</li><li>Define and prioritize features that improve product quality, schedule adherence, or customer value.</li><li>Author clear Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), drive alignment, and follow through reliably.</li><li>Partner with the Director of Product Management to develop the strategy for the product areas including build/buy decisions.</li><li>Conduct customer interviews, gather feedback on product–market fit, and translate insights into roadmap decisions.</li></ul><h3>Cross-functional Coordination</h3><ul><li>Partner closely with engineering teams across ground software, simulation, test, and mission systems to define features and roadmap.</li><li>Partner with other software product managers on roadmaps where capabilities intersect.</li><li>Coordinate with the Director of PM — Federal on defense-aligned product needs and inputs to roadmap.</li><li>Collaborate with the VP of Product and the broader PM team on strategic roadmap decisions and prioritization trade-offs.</li></ul><h2><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>3–5 years of Product Management experience, with demonstrated success owning software products in technically complex environments.</li><li>Experience in communications systems, simulation, test infrastructure, or adjacent deep-tech software domains.</li><li>Experience working cross-functionally with multiple engineering teams at once, rather than a single team.</li><li>Demonstrated success in uncertain environments with incomplete requirements and shifting schedules.</li><li>Proven track record delivering major features or programs spanning multiple months of effort.</li><li>History of independent execution and implementation across multiple concurrent workstreams.</li><li>Strong fluency working with engineering peers and leadership; able to influence cross-organizational technical investment without direct authority.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to translate customer mission needs into detailed product requirements and acceptance criteria across software systems.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.</li></ul><h2><strong>Nice-to-have Skills</strong></h2><ul><li>Active U.S. Government security clearance.</li><li>Familiarity with RF or optical communications, link budgets, or ground station networks.</li><li>Familiarity with mission design, constellation modeling, or digital-twin platforms across orbit, power, and data delivery.</li><li>Familiarity with test automation or hardware-in-the-loop test environments.</li><li>Familiarity with building or operating software for the space environment.</li><li>Prior experience in startup or high-growth technology environments.</li></ul><h2><strong>Salary</strong></h2><p>The salary range for this role is $177,000 - $203,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package.
