We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.  We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.  About the Job: Peak Energy is looking for a Facilities Engineering Lead to own all things building operations at our battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for keeping the physical plant — mechanical, electrical, life-safety, and process-support systems — safe, compliant, and running at the reliability level our production lines depend on. You'll lead a small team of technicians, manage outside contractors, and be the go-to person when anything building-related needs attention. Responsibilities: <ul><li>Own the day-to-day operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of all facility systems: HVAC and process cooling, electrical distribution (low- and medium-voltage), compressed air, plumbing, and building automation/controls. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep the building envelope, dock doors, cranes/hoists, and material-handling infrastructure that support production lines in good working order. </li></ul><ul><li>Assist with the development and supervision of a skilled technician team to support ongoing facilities technical needs. </li></ul><ul><li>Source, qualify, and manage relationships with outside contractors and vendors — electrical, mechanical, fire/life-safety, pest control, janitorial, grounds, and waste/recycling — including scoping, quoting, and invoice review. </li></ul><ul><li>Serve as the primary on-call escalation point for after-hours facility issues. </li></ul><ul><li>Plan and execute facility capital projects — line expansions, utility upgrades, tenant improvements, and equipment installs — in partnership with manufacturing/process engineering, EHS, and outside architects/contractors. </li></ul><ul><li>Own the facilities operating and capital budgets and track spend against forecast. </li></ul><ul><li>Identify and implement energy-efficiency and sustainability improvements. </li></ul>Minimum Qualifications: <ul><li>5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in industrial facilities maintenance, operations, or engineering within a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-processing environment. Background in battery, electronics, chemical processing, automotive, or similarly regulated/utility-intensive manufacturing is a strong plus. </li></ul><ul><li>Equivalent experience counts — time served through a trade apprenticeship, military technical training, or progressively responsible maintenance/facilities roles is weighed the same as a formal degree. </li></ul><ul><li>Prior experience leading, scheduling, or mentoring maintenance/facilities technicians, or clear readiness to step into that role. </li></ul><ul><li>Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems (up to 480V distribution; medium-voltage exposure a plus), HVAC/process cooling, compressed air, and plumbing systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Active knowledge of environmental/workplace safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA 70E, EPA, etc.) as they apply to industrial facilities operations. </li></ul><ul><li>Comfortable with CMMS platforms, basic budgeting, and vendor/contract management. </li></ul><ul><li>Able to read and work from facility drawings and schematics (electrical one-lines, mechanical P&amp;IDs, floor plans). </li></ul><ul><li>Strong troubleshooting instincts and willing to personally get hands-on when needed — this is a working-lead role, not a purely administrative one. </li></ul><ul><li>Able to respond to after-hours emergencies and support occasional weekend/off-shift work for planned shutdowns or projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong interpersonal and people-management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a technician team. </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in facilities management, industrial/mechanical/electrical engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). </li></ul><ul><li>Journeyman electrician license, HVAC/EPA 608 certification, or equivalent trade license. </li></ul><ul><li>Forklift certification. </li></ul><ul><li>MEWP (mobile elevating work platform / aerial lift) certification. </li></ul>Work Environment &amp; Physical Requirements: <ul><li>Primarily an active manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, temperature variation, and industrial equipment; PPE required in designated areas. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and to stand, walk, climb, and work in tight or elevated spaces across the facility for extended periods. </li></ul><ul><li>Will work in proximity to high-voltage equipment and battery chemicals under established safety protocols and with appropriate training/PPE. </li></ul><ul><li>Must be available to respond on short notice to facility emergencies outside normal business hours. </li></ul>Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this role is between $130,000- $160,000 year, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
