The role is accountable for driving a high-performance safety culture, influencing senior leaders, and ensuring that HSE considerations support safe growth, operational excellence and customer outcomes.💼What you’ll be doing:<ul><li>Act as the strategic HSE leader for Bord Gais, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team to embed health, safety and environmental excellence across all operations.</li><li>Provide independent assurance to the Bord Gais Executive Team for Retail operations and relevant governance forums that operational risks are being effectively identified, managed and controlled.</li><li>Develop and deliver the Bord Gais HSE Strategy, ensuring alignment with Centrica Retail and Group objectives, regulatory requirements and business priorities.</li><li>Lead the Retail HSE function for Ireland, creating a high-performing team that delivers expert support, challenge, assurance and continuous improvement across all business activities.</li><li>Drive a risk-based approach to decision making, ensuring critical safety risks are understood, prioritised and effectively managed throughout the business.</li><li>Provide oversight of significant operational risk areas including engineering operations, field activities, contractor management, technical standards, asset safety, customer safety and environmental compliance.</li><li>Lead the development and continual improvement of HSE governance arrangements, management systems, standards and assurance frameworks.</li><li>Provide strategic advice and guidance to Directors and senior operational leaders on emerging risks, regulatory developments and business-critical HSE matters.</li><li>Sponsor serious incident investigations and organisational learning activities, ensuring lessons are identified, embedded and translated into measurable risk reduction.</li><li>Lead engagement with regulators, enforcement authorities, industry bodies and external stakeholders, representing Centrica Retail on HSE matters.</li><li>Drive HSE performance through the establishment of meaningful KPIs, leading indicators, assurance activities and executive reporting.</li><li>Ensure effective management of contractor and supply chain HSE performance, providing robust oversight of high-risk activities delivered on behalf of Centrica.</li><li>Lead and influence cultural improvement programmes that strengthen ownership, accountability and visible safety leadership across the organisation.</li><li>Support business transformation, change programmes and growth initiatives by ensuring HSE risks are effectively assessed and managed.</li><li>Provide regular reporting and strategic updates to Executive, Board and governance committees on HSE performance, key risks and assurance activities.</li></ul>Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>Extensive experience in managing EHS at a senior level with direct reports</li><li>Experience of working in a similar field</li><li>An understanding of the regulatory sector and the management of risk</li><li>Experience in managing performance of 3rd party contractors</li><li>Strong self-drive and resilience to overcome challenges and deliver results</li><li>Relevant experience of building a strong and consistent culture of safety throughout an organisation.</li><li>Education and Certifications</li><li>BSc (Hons) Occ H&amp;S / NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ Level 5/6 or equivalent</li><li>Barrier-based root cause analysis training (Sologic or equivalent)</li><li>Incident investigation experience in a recognised method i.e. Topset</li><li>HSE Auditor qualification preferred (ISO 45001 and/or 14001)</li><li>Chartered member of IOSH (or actively working towards)</li><li>Evidence of current CPD</li></ul>  Why should you apply?       We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place.
