This role will serve as the technical expert for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service activities across our battery storage fleet. This is a hands-on leadership role. We're looking for someone who is just as comfortable troubleshooting a live system as they are mentoring junior electricians, making field decisions, and partnering with engineering to solve complex problems.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul style=""><li>Lead electrical installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility-scale BESS systems.</li><li>Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) including continuity testing, joint impedance measurement, phase rotation verification, multi-phase commissioning, energization, and functional testing.</li><li>Perform and oversee commissioning activities including phase rotation verification, multi-phase commissioning, energization and startup, functional testing, and point-to-point verification.</li><li>Perform high-voltage AC/DC troubleshooting.</li><li>Safely isolate, de-energize, verify zero energy, and return BESS systems to service.</li><li>Install, replace, and troubleshoot PCS/inverters, combiners, transformers, switchgear, breakers, communication systems battery racks/modules, and communication systems.</li><li>Interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and commissioning procedures.</li><li>Routing and installation of high ampacity terminations ranging from 2/0 to 500 MCM wire</li><li>Support root cause analysis of electrical failures.</li><li>Working with documented work instructions, QA hold points, and torque/inspection requirements.</li><li>Partner with Engineering to resolve field issues and improve product reliability.</li><li>Mentor and develop junior field technicians and electricians.</li><li>Maintain NFPA 70E, OSHA, LOTO, and all site safety requirements.</li><li>Travel up to 30% to customer sites for commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.</li></ul><h2>Required Qualifications</h2><ul style=""><li>Master Electrician license or equivalent Journeyman-level experience with demonstrated field leadership.</li><li>8+ years of industrial, utility, or commercial electrical experience.</li><li>3+ years of hands-on experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).</li><li>Experience commissioning and servicing Tesla Megapack, Fluence, Sungrow, Powin, Wärtsilä, BYD, or similar utility-scale energy storage platforms.</li><li>Experience working with 480V AC, 1000–1500V DC battery systems, and medium-voltage electrical equipment.</li><li>Hands-on experience with inverter installation and commissioning — EG4, SMA, Sungrow, SolarEdge, or comparable platforms.</li><li>Strong understanding of battery systems, including series and parallel configurations, battery management systems (BMS), phase rotation, multi-phase commissioning, arc flash, and DC electrical hazards.</li><li>Experience performing lockout/tagout (LOTO), live-dead-live verification, and electrical testing using multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and phase rotation meters.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.</li><li>Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul style=""><li>SCADA, Modbus, or BMS communications troubleshooting experience.</li><li>Hands on experience with cable connections in transformers, panel boards, and inverters</li><li>NETA certification.</li><li>NFPA 70E certification.</li><li>OSHA 30 certification.</li><li>Forklift Certification</li><li>Experience with utility interconnection and substation equipment.</li><li>SCADA, PLC, or industrial controls experience.</li><li>Previous experience in a startup or rapidly growing company environment.</li></ul>Critical Loop is an equal opportunity employer.
