The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Hagerstown, MD.Accountabilities The main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS)</li><li>Define and manage system interfaces (both internal and external) throughout the entire project lifecycle</li><li>Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers</li><li>Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications</li><li>Conduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers) for the assigned onboard systems, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project Engineers</li><li>Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) as well as Functional Test Specifications (FTS) (including performance tests) for the assigned onboard systems</li><li>Attend at system stand-alone type test and review of type test reports</li><li>Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases</li><li>Review design documentation with customers and suppliers</li><li>Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)</li><li>Prepare the documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase</li></ul>Required Skills/ Knowledge<ul><li>5+ experience in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments</li><li>Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards</li><li>Good knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool</li><li>Experience with of engineering processes and railway operations</li><li>Good knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines</li><li>Good knowledge of RAMS principles and processes</li><li>Experience with design verification and validation methodologies</li><li>Experience with electrical / mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.)</li><li>Good knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines</li><li>Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, international and multicultural environment</li><li>Good organizational skills, alongside team-working, problem-solving and results-driven mindset</li><li>Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers)</li><li>Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervision</li><li>Availability for occasional short-term national and international business trips</li></ul>Desired Skills/ Knowledge<ul><li>Fast learner with strong willingness to stay up to date with technological developments</li><li>Good business acumen combined with solid technical skills</li><li>Good communication and interpersonal skills</li></ul>Education/Qualifications <ul><li>Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics disciplines preferred).</li></ul>Benefits:Hitachi Rail employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including Competitive Pay, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short &amp; Long Term Disability, Life &amp; Accident Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Paid Vacation.
