Assets include offshore meteorological masts, wind turbines, offshore transmission assets including onshore and offshore substations, foundations and subsea cables. The Field Expert Technician role is to ensure that these services are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with contractual requirements, standards and specifications. Due to the specific knowledge and experience of the Field Specialist Technician it is however expected that the focus of his/her site work will be predominantly based on the equipment is most knowledgeable about (eg. fire systems, incl. suppression systems).   Key Accountabilities <ul><li>Delivery of operation and maintenance services, including but not limited to: <ul><li>Delivery the onshore and offshore electrical &amp; mechanical work<ul><li>Inspection and planned maintenance of onshore and offshore assets </li><li>Reactive maintenance – depending on the type of fault, reactive maintenance may require onshore and/or offshore site visits at short notice</li><li>Housekeeping</li></ul></li><li>Delivery of retrofits</li><li>Management &amp; coordination of the site works including monitoring of RES’s contractors’ performance</li><li>Producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements </li><li>Compliance with site safety rules including escalation and reporting of any safety, environmental and operational issues</li><li>Inspection and maintenance of RES’s tools, equipment and PPE </li><li>Provision of relevant information for reports to issue to client </li></ul></li><li>Competency and skills to: <ul><li>Deliver planned and reactive offshore activities </li><li>Work effectively alone and as part of a team </li><li>Maintain complex system involving difficult access </li></ul></li><li>On-Call: depending on your knowledge and experience, you may be expected to participate in a call out rota to provide emergency response outside of normal working hours.</li><li>Due to the nature of the offshore environment the role requires a flexible approach to the working days and hours requiring working outside normal working hours</li><li>The role also includes the following department responsibilities: <ul><li>Support the production and review of procedures, processes and technical literature </li><li>Draft and/or provide inputs into proposals and related cost books</li></ul></li></ul>   KnowledgeSkills<ul><li>Good knowledge of UK Health &amp; Safety legislation </li><li>Knowledge of HV safety rules </li><li>LV, HV &amp; mechanical fault-finding and analysis </li><li>Knowledge of wind turbines and related equipment </li><li>Knowledge of balance of plant applicable to offshore wind farms </li><li>Knowledge of HV systems </li><li>Awareness of working at height and within a confined space</li></ul> <ul><li>Excellent attitude to safety </li><li>Site Management </li><li>Technical capability for the evaluation of complex equipment </li><li>Capable of working offshore and at height</li><li>Physically fit, the role will require climbing / transferring to offshore structures</li><li>Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)</li></ul>ExperienceQualifications<ul><li>Experience of the offshore wind industry</li><li>Experience of working in multidiscipline teams </li><li>Experience in mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic maintenance activities and troubleshooting </li><li>Experience with fire suppression systems</li><li>Experience of transmission systems</li><li>Experience working at height (desirable)</li></ul><ul><li>An NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, but background in technical discipline</li><li>GWO Training (desirable, however full training will be given) </li><li>IRATA or rigging qualification (desirable)</li><li>Hold a full driving license</li><li>NFPA &amp; CFPS Certification</li></ul>  At RES we celebrate difference as we know it makes our company a great place to work.
