<div>BEI Construction is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our payroll department. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations, including timekeeping review, payroll processing, employee payroll records, certified payroll reporting, union reporting, tax and garnishment payments, and employee payroll inquiries. The Payroll Specialist must exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with employees, management, project teams, HR, and accounting. This is an on-site position based at our corporate headquarters in Alameda, CA, and reports to the Payroll Manager. Responsibilities<ul><li>Review, verify, and process weekly employee timecards and payroll, including regular, off-cycle, and termination payrolls.</li><li>Maintain accurate payroll records, employee payroll files, personnel documentation, and compliance records.</li><li>Process new hire payroll information, employee changes, wage adjustments, verification of employment requests, 401(k) elections, garnishments, taxes, and union reporting.</li><li>Prepare certified payroll reports for public works projects, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage, apprenticeship, skilled and trained workforce, and related labor requirements.</li><li>Assist with payroll tax filings and quarterly reporting.</li><li>Run payroll reports, identify and resolve discrepancies, and respond to payroll-related questions and helpdesk tickets.</li><li>Collaborate with HR, accounting, project management, field supervision, and external agencies to support payroll accuracy and compliance.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll, personnel, and financial information.</li><li>Provide cross-functional backup support to accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.</li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned.</li></ul> Qualifications<ul><li> Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience required; construction, union, certified payroll, or prevailing wage experience strongly preferred.</li><li>Working knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll compliance, recordkeeping, and payroll reporting requirements.</li><li>Experience with California payroll and/or multi-state payroll preferred.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and follow-through.</li><li>Ability to communicate professionally and resolve payroll questions in a timely manner.</li><li>Proficiency with payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and accurate data entry.  ProContractor by Viewpoint and/or Miter software experience is preferred.</li></ul> Benefits:<ul><li>100% paid medical, dental, vision, and basic life for employees (cost sharing for dependents)</li><li>401(k) employer contribution</li><li>Annual bonus opportunity</li><li>Paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave</li></ul> About UsBEI Construction is a growing multi-jurisdictional union construction firm specializing in electrical construction projects, technology infrastructure, underground construction, and renewable energy solutions.
