The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Geospatial Scientist to provide senior technical leadership across West Africa Blue's growing portfolio of blue carbon and nature-based solutions projects.Reporting to the Mapping and Carbon Science Lead, the Senior Geospatial Scientist will lead the technical delivery, quality assurance and synthesis of geospatial analyses across the portfolio, while managing and mentoring members of the geospatial team.The role sits at the intersection of remote sensing, spatial data science, coastal science and carbon project development. You will lead complex analyses—including land-cover and change detection, project baselines, coastal erosion and sea-level rise assessments—and translate spatial outputs into robust quantitative inputs for carbon accounting, project feasibility, financial modelling and project documentation.This is a senior technical delivery and team-management role. You will work closely with the Mapping and Carbon Science Lead and wider project teams to ensure that analytical methodologies are implemented consistently and that geospatial outputs are scientifically robust, reproducible and audit-ready. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership &amp; Quality Assurance <ul><li style="list-style-type:none;"><ul><li>Lead the technical delivery of complex geospatial and remote-sensing analyses across Blue's project portfolio, implementing and standardising agreed analytical methodologies and workflows.</li><li>Conduct rigorous QA/QC and scientific validation of spatial analyses, ensuring datasets, workflows and outputs are robust, reproducible, well documented and audit-ready.</li><li>Lead advanced spatial modelling—including land-cover change, coastal dynamics, erosion, sea-level rise and carbon sequestration analyses—while identifying opportunities to improve and automate workflows.</li></ul></li></ul>Carbon Project Integration <ul><li style="list-style-type:none;"><ul><li>Translate geospatial analyses into robust quantitative inputs for emission reduction and removal calculations, carbon credit projections, project feasibility and financial modelling.</li><li>Lead spatial analyses supporting carbon project baselines, project boundaries, leakage, additionality and monitoring, working closely with carbon, restoration, conservation and project-development teams.</li><li>Produce and quality-assure maps, spatial evidence and technical documentation required for project documentation, validation and verification.</li></ul></li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Technical Development <ul><li style="list-style-type:none;"><ul><li>Manage and coordinate the geospatial team, prioritising workloads and ensuring high-quality technical outputs are delivered across multiple projects and deadlines.</li><li>Review team outputs, provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff in remote sensing, GIS, spatial statistics, coding and reproducible analytical workflows.</li><li>Support the development and implementation of technical SOPs, analytical standards and efficient ways of working across the geospatial function.</li></ul></li></ul>Data Visualisation &amp; Data Science<ul><li>Remote Sensing &amp; Spatial Analysis: Advanced expertise in multi-temporal change detection, land-cover classification, spatial modelling and analysis of coastal or natural ecosystems.</li><li>Geospatial Tools &amp; Programming: Advanced experience with Google Earth Engine and ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS, with proficiency in Python or R for spatial data processing, workflow automation and statistical validation.</li><li>Data Management &amp; Visualisation: Experience managing complex spatial datasets and translating geospatial outputs into clear maps, dashboards and decision-support products; experience with Power BI or similar tools is advantageous.</li></ul>Carbon &amp; Nature-Based Solutions: Familiarity with international carbon standards and frameworks (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard and IPCC), with experience in blue carbon, REDD+, forestry or other nature-based solutions highly desirable.</li><li>Coastal &amp;
