And that’s where you come in.Job Description:<h1>Installation Design Manager</h1>About the RoleInstallation Design Manager contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to plan, manage and carry out installations in a railway environment, including site readiness, installation approvals, SAT support and handover to system integration and operation. Its specific contribution is to lead installation design, routeing/access solutions, shop-drawing maturity and site-ready design packages.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead installation design packages including equipment locations, cable routes, mounting details, cabinet layouts, earthing/bonding interfaces and materials lists.</li><li>Run constructability reviews with Engineering, Implementation, HSE, Quality, suppliers, civil works and customer site representatives.</li><li>Ensure installation drawings and work packs are approved, configuration-controlled and aligned with procurement and access plans.</li><li>Resolve clashes, site survey findings, technical queries and field-change needs through controlled design processes.</li><li>Support red-line/as-built capture and installation acceptance evidence.</li><li>Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.</li><li>Lead installation design, routeing/access solutions, shop-drawing maturity and site-ready design packages.</li><li>Owns installation design coordination and constructability decisions inside approved scope.</li><li>Escalates clashes affecting access, sequence or interface readiness.</li></ul>Key Interfaces<ul><li>Engineering Manager, Solution Engineering Manager, Implementation Manager, Construction Manager and Site Manager.</li><li>BIM/CAD Operator, Work Package Leaders, HSE, Quality, Configuration &amp; Defect Manager and suppliers.</li><li>Customer site/engineering representatives and civil works interface owners.</li><li>Design reviews.</li><li>Installation planning workshops.</li></ul>Authority &amp; Accountability<ul><li>Accountable for installation design maturity and constructability of assigned packages.</li><li>Authorised to request site data, reject incomplete installation inputs and recommend design corrections before work release.</li><li>Field changes require configuration/change approval before incorporation.</li></ul>MandateEnsure designs can be installed safely, efficiently and in a way that supports testing, maintenance and handover.Skills &amp; Experience<ul><li>Installation design management experience in rail stations, telecoms, electrical, controls or infrastructure Projects.</li><li>Strong constructability, CAD/BIM, cable routing, access and installation-quality record understanding.</li><li>Ability to bridge engineering intent and site reality.</li><li>Resilience and resistance to stress during site discoveries, access constraints and late design changes.</li><li>Practical problem-solving and configuration discipline.</li><li>More than 5–7 years in installation design/constructability for brownfield rail or similar infrastructure.</li></ul>Working in Hitachi:Our employees are our most important asset and we provide an environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance and we offer a flexible hybrid work environment based on Working from home and office presence (40/60).
