Solar One seeks a Director of STEM Education to lead various projects and programming for our K-12 Education team. The Director of STEM Education will administer, train, and manage STEM Educators and oversee STEM programs. Main job responsibilities: <ul style='\"margin-top:' margin-bottom:> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Hire, train, and manage a team of educators (3-4) <ul> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Hold regular 1:1 and team meetings. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Observe educators and provide evaluative feedback. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Promote educator upskilling and professional development. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Work with peer Directors to staff across other education programs. </li> </ul> </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Director is responsible for managing the STEM budget <ul> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Reaching or exceeding revenue targets related to in-school programming and out-of-school time programming for youth. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Managing programming expenses </li> </ul> </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Managing STEM program design, including goal setting, logic models, and tracking deliverables. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Marketing in-school and summer programs to school audiences. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Maintaining partnerships and relationships with funders, including reporting and tracking metrics. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Lead Solar One’s professional development training series for teachers in NYC and NYS. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Oversee coordination of programs with schools and other community partners. This includes planning programs, coordinating materials, scheduling, and developing proposals. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Partnership development for mission-aligned programs. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Assisting with grant writing and tracking. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Collaborating with other internal education programs. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Ensuring staff has adequate program supplies, maintaining inventory. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Managing curriculum resources for STEM program, ensuring resources are up-to-date and appropriate for teachers and students. This curriculum should support teacher training. Curriculum should be standards-aligned and connected to changing graduation requirements. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Attending network meetings for NYCSTEM Network, EEAC, or other comparable professional network to stay abreast of changes or trends in the field. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Post-program reporting and evaluation. </li> </ul> Required Education and Experience <ul style='\"margin-top:' margin-bottom:> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Five years of experience teaching K-12 students content aligned with STEM, climate action, and/or environmental sustainability. Classroom experience is strongly preferred. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Five years of experience delivering professional development training to teachers. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Experience managing an education team. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Experience with curriculum development. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Experience managing a programmatic budget. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Knowledge of anti-racist and culturally responsive pedagogy is strongly preferred. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Demonstrated success in communicating with partner organizations and individuals to build and maintain strong partnerships. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Strong customer service skills. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Strong organization skills and attention to detail. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook, and/or Google Suite, including Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheet, and Drive. </li> <li style='\"font-size:' font-family: new roman serif> Bachelor’s Degree required.
