Job Title: Head of LegalLocation: Larbert *This is an Internal Opportunity Only*You have a responsibility to inform your current line/department manager and local Human Resources representative before applying for the role.POSITION SUMMARYWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join the Commercial &amp; Legal function as Head of Legal.Reporting directly to the Commercial &amp; Legal Director, you will lead and develop the Legal team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal support across the business. You will play a key role in supporting commercial objectives while managing legal risk, providing practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of activities including commercial contracting, compliance, corporate matters and strategic projects.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with stakeholders across all areas of the business.WHAT YOU WILL DO<ul><li>Lead, coach and develop the Legal team, fostering a high-performance culture.</li><li>Act as a trusted legal advisor to stakeholders across Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Engineering and Human Resources.</li><li>Provide legal support across all commercial, corporate and compliance activities.</li><li>Negotiate, draft and review a wide range of commercial agreements and contracts.</li><li>Ensure company standard agreements safeguard business interests while supporting efficient contracting processes.</li><li>Monitor developments in UK and overseas legislation, assessing business impact and implementing appropriate actions.</li><li>Manage external legal advisors and outsourced legal support where required.</li><li>Advise the business on legal risks, opportunities and regulatory compliance matters.</li><li>Draft, review and update legal policies and procedures, delivering guidance and training where appropriate.</li><li>Oversee property-related legal matters, including lease renewals and landlord relationships.</li><li>Support the Commercial &amp; Legal Director with departmental budgeting and expenditure management.</li><li>Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Champion company values and promote a culture of integrity, collaboration and accountability.</li></ul>WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL<ul><li>Qualified to practise as a Solicitor or Barrister in Scotland.</li><li>Strong academic background and legal qualification.</li><li>Proven experience operating in a senior in-house legal role or equivalent.</li><li>Effective leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others.</li><li>Excellent commercial awareness and sound business judgement.</li><li>Strong negotiation and contract management skills.</li><li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.</li><li>Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.</li><li>Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple demands.</li><li>High levels of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.</li><li>Experience managing relationships with external legal advisors and internal stakeholders.</li></ul>WHY JOIN OUR TEAM<ul><li>Generous salary package – we reward our people at the level they deserve.</li><li>A 37-hour working week.</li><li>Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.</li><li>Annual leave entitlement which increases with tenure.</li><li>Pension scheme to help you save for the future.</li><li>Access to our Employee Assistance Programme which offers practical, impartial support on issues impacting your life.</li><li>Cycle to work scheme and discounted gym membership, because your health and wellbeing are important to us.</li></ul>OUR WHYWe move people.
