<p>SunEnergy1 is seeking an experienced <strong>Director of BESS Business Development</strong> to lead the growth of our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) business. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing utility-scale battery storage opportunities, building strategic customer and partner relationships, and driving projects from initial prospecting through contract execution.</p><p>The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the utility-scale energy storage market, proven success in business development, and established relationships with utilities, developers, independent power producers, and energy infrastructure stakeholders.</p><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Develop and execute a comprehensive BESS business development strategy aligned with SunEnergy1’s growth objectives.</li><li>Identify, qualify, and pursue utility-scale battery energy storage opportunities across target markets.</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with utilities, renewable energy developers, IPPs, infrastructure funds, and strategic partners.</li><li>Lead the origination and development of a qualified BESS project pipeline.</li><li>Manage customer engagement, proposals, presentations, negotiations, and commercial contracting.</li><li>Collaborate with engineering, estimating, procurement, finance, legal, and project management teams to develop competitive EPC proposals.</li><li>Partner with customers to understand project requirements, including standalone storage and solar-plus-storage opportunities.</li><li>Monitor BESS market trends, regulatory developments, interconnection activity, capacity markets, and emerging technologies.</li><li>Support pricing strategy, project economics, risk assessment, and contract negotiations.</li><li>Represent SunEnergy1 at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings.</li><li>Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts, CRM records, and regular business development reporting.</li><li>Help establish long-term strategic partnerships and expand SunEnergy1’s position in the energy storage market.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or a related field preferred.</li><li><strong>7+ years of experience in energy, renewable energy, energy storage, or utility-scale infrastructure business development.</strong></li><li>Demonstrated success originating and closing utility-scale BESS or renewable energy EPC opportunities.</li><li>Strong knowledge of BESS technologies, project development, EPC delivery, and commercial energy storage markets.</li><li>Established relationships with utilities, IPPs, renewable energy developers, and energy infrastructure investors.</li><li>Experience with proposals, commercial negotiations, contracts, and project financial analysis.</li><li>Strong understanding of project economics, including capital costs, revenue streams, and storage project returns.</li><li>Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.</li><li>Willingness to travel regularly for customer meetings, industry events, and project opportunities.</li></ul><h2>Preferred Experience</h2><ul><li>Utility-scale BESS EPC sales or business development experience.</li><li>Experience with solar-plus-storage projects and hybrid renewable energy systems.</li><li>Knowledge of interconnection processes, capacity markets, ancillary services, and energy arbitrage.</li><li>Experience developing projects across the Southeast and other strategic U.S. energy markets.</li><li>Existing relationships with BESS developers, utilities, IPPs, and equipment or technology providers.</li><li>Experience working with battery OEMs, integrators, EPC contractors, or energy storage technology partners.</li></ul>
