Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking an Electrochemical Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation all-solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power offers a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment where engineers contribute directly to advancing cutting-edge technology. This position will be part of the Electrolyte Systems Engineering team and will focus on characterizing the electrochemical performance of current and future generations of electrolyte materials. The Electrochemical Engineer will execute and improve electrochemical testing methods, analyze data, and translate results into engineering insights that support product development, process optimization, and scale-up activities from pre-pilot through pilot manufacturing. Job Duties:<ul><li style="font-size:12pt;">Design, execute, and interpret electrochemical experiments to evaluate the performance and stability of current and next-generation solid-state electrolyte products. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Translate electrochemical feedback into actionable product and process improvements. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Correlate electrolyte processing conditions, material properties, and microstructure to electrochemical performance, enabling process-structure-property-performance (PSPP) understanding and decision-making. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Perform electrochemical characterization such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), critical current density (CCD) testing, DC polarization, rate capability testing, and long-term cycling studies, with opportunities to apply more advanced analysis methods such as distribution of relaxation times (DRT) analysis. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Support the development and refinement of characterization methods and analytical approaches to improve understanding of electrolyte behavior, degradation mechanisms, and electrochemical stability. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Apply statistical and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python) to evaluate experimental results, identify significant trends, and support data-driven decision making. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Contribute to root-cause investigations involving material performance, product variability, process changes, and customer-relevant cell outcomes. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Analyze, visualize, and communicate complex electrochemical datasets to technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing clear recommendations and development priorities. </li></ul>Qualifications/Requirements:<ul><li style="font-size:12pt;">B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrochemistry, Materials Science &amp; Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Minimum 3 years of relevant experience developing or applying electrochemical characterization methods in batteries, solid-state batteries, electrochemical materials, or related technologies; level will be determined based on experience. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Working knowledge of electrochemical techniques including EIS, CV, galvanostatic cycling, CCD testing, DC polarization, and interpretation of electrochemical datasets; experience with DRT or other advanced analysis methods is preferred. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Strong understanding of structure-property-performance relationships in electrochemical systems and the ability to connect material behavior to product performance. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Experience designing statistically sound experimental plans (DOE), analyzing large datasets, and drawing actionable conclusions from experimental results. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Proficiency with data analysis and statistical software (JMP, Minitab, Python, MATLAB, Origin, or similar). </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional technical problem solving. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineers, scientists, management, and external stakeholders. </li><li style="font-size:12pt;">Ability to independently execute technical workstreams and contribute to cross-functional projects in a fast-paced development environment. </li></ul>Physical Requirements:<ul><li style="font-size:12pt;">Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR</li></ul>Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000/yearBenefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&amp;D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, 8 paid holidays + the week between Christmas and New Years off, Unlimited PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans. Export Control Requirements: This position could require access to technology, software and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls.
