Lead Engineering Technologists provide technical expertise to solve complex problems and utilize the leadership skills necessary to support others in technical areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work.Lead Engineering Technologist -DCS SME will provide technical support for control systems at coal, natural gas, solar and bulk energy storage generation facilities.  SME will work with plant operations and maintenance personnel to support equipment troubleshooting, SME will coordinate communication with external DCS Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) support groups.  SME will coordinate communication of fleet level guidance to internal station and regional DCS support personnel.  DCS SME acts as owner of fleet level standards, practices, and procedures.Basic Qualifications<ul><li>Either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 10+ years equivalent experience without a degree</li></ul>Additional Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Skilled in engineering theories and principles</li><li>Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.</li><li>Good written and oral communication skills.</li><li>Skilled in principles of project management.</li><li>Experience in the utility industry.</li><li>Experience with design, construction, commissioning, and/or process engineering support for generation facilities</li><li>Experience with utility industry process control and automation equipment</li><li>Experience with specific DCS manufacturers' equipment:  Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, GE Mark VIe</li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>This position will support generation facilities of multiple technology types in all of Duke Energy’s operating regions.</li><li>Routine travel within the home region will be required (~15-25%).  Occasional travel to other regions will be required (5-10%)</li></ul>Travel Requirements15-25%<h3>Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable)</h3>Yes<h3>Represented/Union Position</h3>No<h3>Visa Sponsored Position</h3>No. This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
