Working under the guidance of a Senior Software Analyst or Technical Specialist, the incumbent develops expertise in one or more subsystem functional areas and supports the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The role involves analyzing requirements, implementing software changes, performing testing activities, and ensuring compliance with established software architecture, design patterns, and safety-critical development processes. Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Contribute to the refinement of mission and functional descriptions, software architecture, algorithm design, and functional and non-functional requirements.</li><li>Design, code, debug, test, and review software components of low to medium complexity and criticality.</li><li>Develop test procedures and execute software verification and validation activities.</li><li>Produce and execute integration tests on simulated environments and target hardware test benches.</li><li>Perform detailed impact analyses for software changes affecting multiple components under supervision.</li><li>Investigate software defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Conduct engineering testing in simulation environments and support investigation of field-reported issues.</li><li>Collaborate with Systems Engineering teams to ensure system-software consistency, proper component refinement, and compliance with software architecture.</li></ul> Required Skills and Experience:<ul><li>Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in software development or engineering.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.</li><li>Foundational engineering analysis and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose issues using logs and correlate events to failures.</li><li>Ability to work on small- to medium-scale software applications and deliver solutions within established engineering guidelines.</li><li>Knowledge of software development processes and lifecycle methodologies.</li><li>Ability to work independently and integrate effectively within a collaborative engineering team.</li><li>Experience with software development environments and tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, desktop simulators, and target simulators.</li><li>Basic knowledge of railway signaling systems, including SelTrac CBTC.</li><li>Experience working within Agile development environments.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.</li><li>Experience using source control, IDE, and requirements management tools such as Git, Jira, Eclipse, ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS.</li></ul> Preferred Skills and Experience:<ul><li>Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.</li><li>Experience developing software for embedded systems using C and C++.</li><li>Experience using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby.</li><li>Exposure to modelling and simulation techniques.</li><li>Experience developing software on Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.</li><li>Understanding of control theory concepts, including PID, PD, fuzzy logic, and adaptive controllers.</li><li>Knowledge of graph theory concepts and applications.</li></ul> Base Salary Range: $68,000 - $85,000  The Company provides an extensive benefits program for all full-time employees working 24 or more hours per week and their eligible dependents, including the following: <ul><li style="color:#242424 !important;">Health, Dental and Vision plans - 100% of premiums are company-paid </li><li style="color:#242424 !important;">Retirement Savings Plan with a company match</li><li style="color:#242424 !important;">Company paid holidays - 3 weeks of vacation</li><li style="color:#242424 !important;">Company provided Life and accident Insurance,  LTD </li><li style="color:#242424 !important;">Worklife programs such as Flextime and a variety of Development and Training opportunities </li></ul> This posting relates to an existing vacancy.  Our hiring process uses both human and technology‑assisted (AI) tools to support candidate screening and assessment.
