Symmetry is an environmentally-conscious business focused on combating deforestation by creating wood-equivalent products of high quality that designers and other manufacturers can use as substitutes for scarce exotic woods. We deliver this value proposition by converting  bacterial cellulose waste from the kombucha industry and processing it into a format that works on standard woodworking equipment. No trees are cut down, and no hazardous ingredients are introduced in the process. Best of all, Symmetry is able to produce the material, Pyrus, at a competitive price to the high-value (or “exotic”) timber driving deforestation. Symmetry is the first venture to synthesize this unique process and has been recognized internationally by organizations like The James Dyson Foundation and the World Economic Forum.
