Field Controls Engineer

<div><b style="font-size:12pt;">The Role</b></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">We are looking for a Manager of Development Engineering to lead a team that provides comprehensive development engineering support for our distributed energy, front-of-meter, and microgrid projects. Our projects typically include managing a variety of DER and microgrid assets – such as solar, battery energy storage, controls, and generators. You will report to our Sr. Director of Project Engineering and Preconstruction and work a hybrid schedule out of either our Ridgewood, NJ, Oakland, CA, or Santa Monica, CA offices.  </span></div><br><br><h3>Key responsibilities will include:</h3><ul><li>Provide technical expertise over the design, installation, and build-out of distributed energy and front-of-meter renewable energy solutions; leverage power engineering knowledge to ensure high-quality projects are engineered well for our clients.</li><li>Work with the business development, execution, and commercial teams to ensure our microgrids are appropriately integrated into the customer site and are technically correct, practical, and cost-effective.</li><li>Lead the conceptual design and diligence of various types of renewable energy projects.  </li><li>Utilize strong technical and communication skills to interface with all aspects of the business and customers. </li><li>Provide significant input to the solar, battery, generator, and controls designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability for each customer site.</li><li>Support, build, and grow a diverse team.</li><li>Support our Business Development teams to evaluate and develop the right technical solutions for our customers.</li><li>Provide mentorship and leadership to team members.</li><li>Guide individuals in setting clear goals and provide regular feedback on performance to foster career growth.</li><li>Support the development of the technical vision for microgrid design.</li><li>Coordinate project staffing and prioritization.</li><li>Improve overall engineering quality through documentation, technical guidance, and mentoring, and establish and uphold best practices for the team.</li><li>Implement new tools and practices as needed to make the team more effective.</li></ul><h3>The Ideal Candidate</h3><ul><li>10+ years of experience building and leading teams, preferably in a high-growth company</li><li>Thorough technical understanding of distributed energy technologies, including some combination of solar, battery, and generators</li><li>Strong experience with solar forecasting production modeling software (i.e. PVSYST), ability to diligence and recommend solar racking solutions (fixed tilt, single axis tracker, rooftop), evaluating sites for optimal array layouts given site considerations</li><li>Strong knowledge of the various DER power sources within the Microgrid and how they best interface with the utility to provide a more efficient system</li><li>Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the US power markets, the interconnection process, and requirements</li><li>Knowledge of systems controls for all the DERs and how they can be utilized to accomplish specific operating goals while part of the Microgrid. This highly visible and strategic role will be exposed to all finance-related aspects of the business as we continue to build out the FP&amp;A function and will be crucial in providing insights that shape decision-making and improve financial performance as we continue to grow.
