Groundwork Data is a public-interest advisory, research, and technology firm working at the forefront of a clean, equitable, and resilient energy transition. Groundwork Data was founded to address key gaps in the energy transition landscape:
- An overreliance on the private sector and investor-owned utilities in charting the course of our clean energy future, and the subsequent need for public-centered independent analysis.
- The limited use of data-driven decision making in public infrastructure investment, and the opportunity for technology to provide transparency, novel insights, and improved public outcomes.
- The difficulty of translating state and national goals into local action and the need for bottom-up roadmaps to meet decarbonization goals.
Our team is led by partners whose unique backgrounds in environmental research, technology development, and government leadership converge around common values of supporting the public interest.
Our clients include State and local Governments, universities, national laboratories, and nonprofits. We are selective in our clients to ensure we are always working in the public interest.
Our work takes the form of novel research reports, climate action plans, and the development of geospatial tools for energy and infrastructure planning.
