Principal Mechanical Engineer

Department Overview: The Technical Team is the critical department at Artemis Technologies, designing and developing our key products. The Control Systems department, currently comprising around 10 engineers, will oversee the design and engineering of all Flight Controls, Vessel Controls, Automation, Power Management Controls, Instrumentation, Telemetry and HMI. Where applicable this also extends to compliance and reporting. The Role: The Principal Control Systems Engineer sees the big picture whilst also being comfortable working in the detail. You will be responsible for the entire development lifecycle of control systems software, using MATLAB/Simulink. The group is growing its presence within the business and building on the technology modules developed in our vessel programmes, furthering development for the wider marine market. THE ROLE:Responsible for the design and development of ATL in-house propulsion battery systems including vessel integration.  <a></a>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: <ul><li>Responsible for the electromechanical design and on time delivery of 800V DC battery pack products.</li><li>Deriving Mechanical, Electrical &amp; Hardware Sub-System/Component requirements for design realisation or for COTS hardware requirements specification.</li><li>Integration of Lithium-Ion battery modules, working closely with critical suppliers to meet strict physical and functional integration requirements.</li><li>Supporting LV and HV internal harnessing and connectivity strategy.</li><li>Support the implementation of the battery system safety concept.</li><li>Developing innovative busbar and electrical distribution concepts for high-voltage batteries, in line with international normative standards.</li><li>Deriving Mechanical/Electrical/Hardware Requirements and verifying they are satisfied by electromechanical design.</li><li>Integration of Fuses, switchgear, LV hardware and Battery Management System hardware.</li><li>Supporting in the development and refinement of the thermal management strategy for the battery modules and co-ordinating appropriate CAE activities where required.</li><li>Supporting in electromechanical system calculations and utilising first principals’ approach to problem resolution.</li><li>Authoring technical documentation as required (test reports, user manuals, hardware manuals etc.).</li><li>Contributing and leading Robustness Analysis (DFMEA, FTA’s) as required throughout the development program.</li><li>Support the product Integration &amp; Test programs as required.</li><li>Providing support to the Aftersales team in identifying issues and find resolutions (root cause analysis, 8D’s).</li><li>Introducing new technology to ATL where appropriate.</li><li>Attend team and 1-1 meetings and fulfil reporting requirements as required by Artemis Technologies.</li><li>Ensure compliance with Artemis Technologies Policies and Procedures.</li><li>Build good working relationships across Artemis Technologies.</li><li>Contribute to shaping a culture that reflects Artemis Technologies Values and Behaviours and enables the company to achieve its goals.</li></ul> PERSON SPECIFACTION:Education/Qualifications and Experience Required:<ul><li>Holder of Bachelor (BSc /BEng) degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering).</li><li>5+ years working in automotive, marine or industrial sectors within a complex regulatory framework.
