<div> Job Purpose Panthera is seeking an experienced Research Station Manager to oversee the ranch's administrative and logistical tasks and provide support for the field activities carried out at our Fazenda Jofre Velho, Wild Cat Research and Education Center (FJV Center) in the a Northern Pantanal of Mato Grosso (MT) Brazil. The FJV Center  is situated in the middle of 10,000 hectares (25,000 acres) of the Brazilian Pantanal—a region with one of the highest jaguar densities in all of Latin America.  Panthera has protected and utilized this jaguar-rich property to demonstrate that jaguar successful conservation can benefit ranchers, collaborate on sustainable development of jaguar-oriented tourism and provide support to local communities.  This position will oversee the ranch operations and will provide the necessary support to the multi-faceted Panthera´s reseach program. Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Manage all of Panthera’s day-to-day in situ activities in close coordination with the FJV personnel. Research Station Manager, Brazilian Pantanal

In the beginning of 2020, Panthera incorporated an office in Malaysia - Panthera Wild Cat Conservation Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Panthera Malaysia). Panthera’s Project Tekai started in 2023 and is focused on the monitoring and protection of the Malayan tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni), as well as all other wild cat species in the Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve, also known as the Tekai Core Area in Pahang. The project’s main objectives are to stabilize and recover the population of tigers and other wild cats in the landscape following the Panthera’s Regional Development Strategy for South and Southeast Asia in Malaysia. Project Coordinator, Project Tekai

<div> Job Title:              Infrastructure Development Engineer Location:              Niokolo-Koba National Park, Senegal Duration:             1 year, renewable Department:       Conservation Action, West and Central Africa Regional Hub  <h3 style="margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:8px;">Summary:</h3>Panthera Senegal is looking for a motivated and dedicated full time Infrastructure Development Engineer in our long-term program to support the Directorate of National Parks (DPN) in the protection and management of Niokolo-Koba National Park in Senegal. The program has seen a substantial expansion in recent years, which justifies the recruitment of a full time IM to support the various activities implemented in the park, including infrastructure development (roads, bridges and ranger posts) to support surveillance and ecological monitoring. The IM will be based at the Assirik field base inside the park, and will also be required to spend time in other remote parts of the park. He/she will also need to carry out occasional trips to the Niokolo-Koba NP Headquarters in the town of Tambacounda and to Dakar, to liaise with Panthera and DPN staff and to assist with the procurement, importation and maintenance of project equipment. Candidates are required to be physically fit and must be used to working in remote and challenging field conditions.<h3 style="margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:8px;">Project Background:</h3>Since 2011, Panthera has gradually developed a partnership with the local wildlife authority, the Directorate of National Parks (DPN), to support the protection and management of Niokolo-Koba National Park. In 2017, Panthera built a permanent project base in NKNP, and has been gradually expanding its support to park protection and management since then. One of the main components of Panthera’s support is the development and maintenance of crucial park infrastructure such as roads, bridges, ranger posts, and air strips.<h3 style="margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:8px;">Position Objectives</h3>To support and strengthen infrastructure works in the park, we seek an experienced Infrastructure Development Engineer. The position will be based at the newly built Assirik Base in the remote South-East of the park. The base is equipped with a 10-kw solar system, borehole, office space and accommodation for a team of 20 rangers and other park management and research staff. The IM will be responsible for the maintenance and well-functioning of this vital base. In the remote South-East of the park, Panthera has taken responsibility for all primary park infrastructure developments, and supports the maintenance and improvement of a network of 320 km of park roads. New roads are gradually added in this area, based on infrastructure development plans elaborated with the DPN. The IM will plan, coordinate and supervise such ongoing road works, and will lead the design and construction of new roads, bridges and low-water crossing. He will also interact with suppliers and constructors, leading acquisitions and preparing draft contracts with support from Panthera administration team.<h3 style="margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:8px;">Principal Responsibilities</h3><ul><li style="margin-bottom:8px;margin-left:8px;">Manage the joint Panthera/DPN Assirik Base, including the maintenance of base infrastructure such as buildings, solar installation, communications, borehole, airstrip and hangar. This includes ensuring that data are correctly captured and curated, safely backed up, and transferred to project partners in a timely manner. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Participate in, and lead where requested, data preparation and analysis, creation of summary data tables and plots, and creating project deliverables (reports, scientific publications, etc.) for the RCU and other partners. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Participate in the collection and curation of photographs, videos, and other media detailing field activities for use in promotional material by Panthera and the RCU (in accordance with Panthera and RCU policies). </li></ul> Requirements<ul><li style="margin-left:8px;">The position will be based in Cape Town, South Africa, but may entail spending up to 9 months of the year in Saudi Arabia, predominately in AlUla County.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">MSc degree in a conservation-related discipline, although applicants with a degree in social-sciences and experience of working in conservation will also be considered.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Candidates should be proficient in the use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Experience in using SMART Conservation Tools will be an advantage.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Familiarity with ArcGIS, QGIS, or other mapping software will be an advantage.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Candidates should have strong written and spoken English.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Arabic speaking will be an advantage.</li><li style="margin-left:8px;">Previous experience of working in Saudi Arabia or another middle-Eastern country will be an advantage.</li></ul> How to Apply  Applications close 6 May, 2024.  CVs must include two professional referees and their contact details.
