Due to an internal promotion we're looking for a new Technical Coordinator who will help  coordinate key technical activities alongside the Engineering and Project delivery teams. Your knack for prioritising and leveraging our centralised support team will enhance process efficiency, making a tangible impact on our operations. You’ll be the go-to person for the Engineering and Project Delivery teams, assisting with technical and project-related documentation, and supporting the monthly finance reconciliation process, including project forecasting and purchase order tracking.In this dynamic role, you’ll also manage a variety of technical administration processes, from Management of Change (MOC) to Engineering Advice Notices (EANs) and Equipment Limitation Notices (ELNs). Technical Coordinator - Hydro

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  Based at our Clyde Dam, Dispatch Traders essentially have two jobs in one: Operator (Dispatch) and Spot Trader.  <ul><li>As Operator, you are in the control room, using the control system, managing the Hydro Assets on the Clutha River. Focus is on the hydrology within the catchment, ensuring the most effective use of our limited water resources in line with environmental and legislative requirements.  </li><li>As Spot Trader, you are focused on our short-term portfolio modelling, and manage of all Contact’s intra-day trading decisions. This includes offering our generating assets into the New Zealand Electricity Market (NZEM), purchasing from the NZEM to supply our customers, and managing a range of ancillary services.  </li></ul>Electricity generation never sleeps. Our Hydro assets operate 24/7, meaning this role does require some shift work on a rotational roster basis. This isn’t your typical roster though – it’s unique and offers a lot of flexibility with regular days off and dedicated time for learning and development. Training on the job will be provided, but you need to be prepared to work hard and motivated to get up to speed quickly so you can work on the trading desk (where all the magic happens). This is a unique opportunity to work at one of New Zealand's most iconic infrastructure locations, doing mahi that has a direct link to our company’s strategy, alongside a high-performing, close-knit team of nine who report to our awesome Dispatch Manager, Trevor Lawrence.

Dispatch Trader

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role We're looking at adding a further Technician to our team to assist with the surveillance and monitoring of our dam structures and surroundings. As a Field Technician in the Dam Safety Team at Contact Hydro, you’ll be contributing to the Dam Safety Assurance Programme by being the guardian of our hydro assets and surroundings. One day you could be walking through our dams inspecting the structures, and recording data from the pressure gauge systems the next day you could be on a boat conducting lakebed surveys and monitoring our eel traps. Another day could be spent using a 4WD or drone to survey the surrounding landscapes and reporting back any significant changes.In this role, you’ll also be a key player in monitoring and promoting health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. You’ll help develop and implement HSE policies, support continuous improvement initiatives, and work closely with your team to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency. Whether it’s assisting with maintenance projects, or responding to emergencies, your contributions will be vital to the success of our Hydro team and facilities.If you’re someone who enjoys a good mix of the indoor and outdoor work, has a keen eye for detail, and is passionate about protecting our environment, this role is for you.
