About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Investor Outreach Manager to play a key role in FAIRR’s fast-growing investor network, which is providing investors with the research and tools to manage the ESG risks and opportunities in the global food sector. This role will be instrumental in developing a robust member engagement strategy for FAIRR’s investor network, segmenting the network across investor categories and developing a more coherent investor journey. It involves building internal and external relationships and fostering collaboration.  

 

The Outreach Manager will play an essential role in deepening FAIRR’s investor network through understanding investors’ needs and concerns, and tailoring FAIRR’s value proposition to meet their evolving requirements. This role will provide strategic oversight across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with FAIRR’s mission and goals. The manager will be a key player in scaling the impact of the FAIRR investor network and will influence the direction of the food sector’s transition towards more sustainable and resilient business models. 

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities

Strategy Development and Execution  

  • Support FAIRR’s Director of Investor Outreach, and the wider team to develop and execute a coordinated and cohesive membership engagement strategy that raises awareness of the materiality of ESG issues in the food sector (with a focus on protein value chains) and the importance of their integration into investment processes and analysis  

  • Support the development of FAIRR’s strategy for deepening our membership base and lead the project to segment the network across investor categories and developing a more coherent investor journey.

Member Experience  

  • Responsible for developing and refining FAIRR’s membership journey (e.g. suggesting new approaches and processes to improve the FAIRR member experience and to adapt FAIRR’s offering and messaging to resonate with investor priorities including better ways to convene specific investor groups). This improved journey will aim to steward our membership towards an increased and a active usage of FAIRR’s offering.  

  • Having responsibility for specific members within discrete investor categories and raising the visibility and relevance of FAIRR’s work amongst these specific investor categories (e.g., fixed-income investors, asset owners).  

  • Support FAIRR’s product development efforts working closely with the teams behind FAIRR’s tools and thematic research to ensure FAIRR’s offering reflects investor priorities and incorporates investor feedback. This includes developing new ways to increase the depth and breadth of FAIRR’s interactions with the investment community with processes in place to monitor the success. 

  • Support / lead the process and execution of FAIRR’s Annual Investor Survey  

Relationship Management and Expansion  

  • Maintaining membership levels and the quality of participation within the existing network 

  • Deepening relationships with existing network members, especially amongst specific investor categories. 

  • Expanding our reach beyond our current contacts to develop relationships with quantitative, thematic and portfolio management teams  

  • Internal stakeholders - Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across the FAIRR team to understand how FAIRR’s key issues are evolving and how these can be tailored to be most relevant to the investor landscape, suggesting ways to incorporate trends and investor priorities into FAIRR’s tools, data, and thematic offering. 

External Representation & Communication 

  • Representing FAIRR (this usually involves public speaking) at relevant financial and sustainability events to raise the organisation’s profile within the investment industry and showcase recent research, initiatives and investor briefings.  

Training and Development 

  • Provide training and support to the broader FAIRR team to ensure consistency and effectiveness in member engagement and communication efforts. 

  • Develop educational materials and programs for investors to enhance their understanding of ESG issues in the food sector. 

Document Preparation, Reporting, CRM  

  • Support the preparation of tailored investment communications and materials for specific investors and asset classes including investor case studies and other ad-hoc materials.  

  • Support the preparation of reports on progress for presentation to ExCom and the Board of Directors. Suggest ways to maximise the efficiency of Salesforce our client relationship management database by ensuring that all records are updated and maintained. 

Travel  

  • Ability to travel internationally to events in key market countries  

Essential Criteria
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience working in a professional system change environment (thought leadership/research, start-ups, advisory/consulting, strategy, project management or investment), preferably in an international environment 

  • Proven relationship management, networking and business development skills, preferably within the financial sector, or within other service-based industries, such as management consulting 

  • Knowledge of global capital markets including the requirements of the various roles within the investment industry, across asset classes and their ESG research and data requirements 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (other languages are highly desirable) 

  • Excellent team player with strong analytical skills and commercial acumen 

  • Strong organizational skills with experience in developing project plans, delivering on competing schedules and ability to perform in a high-paced environment 

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree  

  •  Experience of MS Office to an advanced level (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) 

  • Previous experience of a CRM database – ideally Salesforce- 

  • A passion for tackling the world’s sustainability challenges and mobilising finance for good. 

  • Motivated by working in a fast-paced environment where you can shape the outcomes, and have a huge impact 

  • Interest in food systems and the role and motivations of different stakeholders in food supply chains 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify opportunities and new initiatives and to turn them into reality 

Desirable Criteria
  • In-depth knowledge of responsible investments 

  • Having a network of contacts with key professionals at major asset owners  

  • Thematic knowledge of food systems and understanding of the role and motivations of different stakeholders in food supply chains  

  • Previous experience working across international markets, with relevant experience and ability to adapt the communication style to different cultures and countries 

  • Master’s degree in one or more relevant fields and/or a recognised investment qualification
