Fast-paced, early-stage biotech company is seeking a Facilities Technician for our state-of-the-art bio-manufacturing and research headquarters in Green Island, NY.
Our Facilities Technician will be responsible for maintaining and improving equipment, tools and workspaces at the Ecovative. This will be an independent role working on facility projects and taking ownership of regular equipment maintenance and documentation activities.

We operate a 40,000 sqft headquarters in Green Island, NY, with mixed usage, including office space, engineering and wood shops, agricultural processing space, mushroom substrate pretreatment equipment, a secure food manufacturing zone, a 2000 sqft Bio-Foundry, and numerous state-of-the-art solid-state fermentation chambers.
Perform duties as assigned to maintain the efficient operation of the Ecovative facility
Create and maintain a site inventory of tools and supplies
Maintains a clean, aesthetically pleasing and functionally operational site, including but not limited to site organization and basic cleaning duties
Provide feedback to management about maintenance needs
Provide assistance to all site workspace improvements as assigned
Update and maintain maintenance documentation, as required
Perform and document scheduled maintenance tasks
Organize and archive previous maintenance activity as required
Support facility activities including larger scale equipment, process overhauls and/or upgrades
Ensure site equipment is up to date on all required preventative maintenance activities
Assist with Facility based activities including plumbing, minor electrical, insulation, drywall, windows/door installation and repair, facility cleaning, general office equipment installation and miscellaneous “handyman” activities
Assist with fabrication tasks as required
Train others to provide feedback on machine operation for equipment troubleshooting
Ensure proper use of site Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures within Facilities operations and across all site operations
3-5 years of professional construction experience
Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical principles and troubleshooting
Previous experience with maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems
General fabrication knowledge and machine shop practices
Familiar with industrial safety practices
Basic Computer Skills
Cleaning and organizing experience and interest.
Minimum of a High school diploma
Ability to understand and provide feedback on technical drawings
Experience with heavy equipment operation including Fork Trucks and Mini/Regular Skid Steers
Ability to learn basic welding, fabrication and mechanical repair techniques and skills
Ability to read, understand and troubleshoot equipment via operations manuals, provided instruction and within group diagnostic assessments
Professional culinary and design experience is outside of primary scope but considered a desirable skill
