About the Role

We are looking for a hardware program manager in Taiwan to help us make the best possible vehicles. You will be responsible for developing relationships and products with our critical vendors in Taiwan. You will partner with engineering and supply chain to define schedule and deliverables and own the communication of schedule and status on a weekly basis. In your first 6 months, you will help us bring our custom technology from DVT, design verification and test, to launch and kickstart new development for the next generation. On off-the-shelf products, you will manage reliability testing at labs in Taiwan and China.

We work in very small groups to keep processes and overhead low, so we have a lot of trust and accountability to perform the work required to build the best product.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and communicate the schedule, budget, project goals and deliverables to your project team, including vendors, on a weekly basis.
  • Build the connection between the US and vendor engineering teams.
  • Facilitate technical discussions among global partners when needed for project definition or issue resolution.
  • Track and elevate project risk to leadership.
  • Work with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, reliability engineers, firmware and software teams and manufacturers to deliver exceptional products.
  • Guide hardware programs from feasibility through to production.
  • Develop new vehicles and new features for existing vehicles.
  • Oversee hardware builds with manufacturing partners.
  • Develop, implement and tune processes that improve efficiency and accountability across various functions.
  • Establish and champion standard methodologies of product development processes for hardware.
  • Coordinate with vendor’s lab and external 3rd party labs to get products tested and supervise the labs to ensure the tests are performed. according to the reliability test conditions.
  • Connect mechanical engineers in Asia and the US with technical vendor teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience shipping hardware products.
  • Strong proponent of consumer based product development processes.
  • Impeccable organizational, multi-tasking, and management skills.
  • Strong multidisciplinary, technical background.
  • Experience working with electrical, mechanical, firmware, software and reliability teams.
  • Experience working with global organizations and US engineering teams.
  • Experience collaborating with supply chain and manufacturing teams.
  • Flexible, able to adapt projects to changing industry needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a great teammate.
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 10% of the year (post COVID).
