Job Description
CEF is an invitation-only senior executive network comprised of Fortune and Global 500 companies spanning two dozen industries with combined revenues over $3 trillion. We provide a year-round neutral, pre-competitive space for Chief Sustainability Officers and other influential executives to exchange best practices, collaborate, and incubate new ideas to drive sustainable value creation and innovation.
The CEF Editor-in-Chief plays a vital role in CEF’s small, “all hands on deck” team by helping CEF maintain its credibility as a premier, trusted filter of key news, research, and trends for members. The Editor-in-Chief’s primary responsibility is to produce the CEF Weekly Briefing, a weekly newsletter read by thousands of senior executives at Fortune 500 companies that digests the latest corporate sustainability-related news. The Editor-in-Chief also helps to manage the CEF Spotlight Blog, a blog showcasing thought leadership on corporate sustainability.
Specific Duties
CEF Weekly Briefing
- Research, write and edit CEF’s flagship weekly publication, The CEF Weekly Briefing.
- Identify and summarize all notable news stories, new research and tools to help members and fellow staff cope with the flood of sustainable business information.
- Oversee publication and e-distribution (published every Monday at 6:00AM).

CEF Spotlight Blog
- Assist the CEF team in managing the “CEF Spotlight Blog” by proposing and soliciting new contributions, corresponding with contributors, editing draft submissions, and managing the editorial calendar.

Qualifications
- Superb writing, research and fact-checking skills, with laser-like attention to detail.
- Aptitude for distilling complex information into concise, clear, and accurate prose.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Education/training and/or work experience in corporate sustainability.
- Strong background or education in Journalism, Communications, English or relevant field.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a tight-knit team.
- Desire to work remotely; demonstrated capacity to be proactive and self-manage.
- Aptitude for learning new software: candidate will need to become proficient in several applications including Mailchimp and WordPress.
About the Role
- Part-time independent contract position.
- Approximately 15-25 hours per week, depending on the news cycle.
- Remote working opportunity.
