At Volta we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of the electric vehicle. Volta creates city-wide free electric vehicle charging networks in major metropolitan areas. We’re growing rapidly and we need passionate individuals to take a hands-on role in driving our expansion. As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for your region’s construction projects during the engineering and permitting phases, and will provide partnership as needed with Volta construction managers during project builds. You will work with the Volta Site Sales team to ensure optimal site design; you will oversee the construction design process in collaboration with internal designers or external design vendors; you will manage the utility design and interconnection process with local utilities; and you will ensure timely issuance of permits from jurisdictional authorities. This is a highly collaborative technical role that requires engineering expertise, the ability to project manage a high volume of relatively small projects, and excellent communications skills in order to ensure optimal execution amongst many internal and external partners. We are looking for an individual that is self-motivated and proactive, who will drive all projects with a sense of urgency, and is passionate about seeing their work manifest in the acceleration of a sustainable future. Responsibilties
Perform qualification visits at potential charging station locations to assess feasibility and optimal site design
Manage individual construction projects from launch through the issuance of permits
Be a leader in communicating with our Site Acquisition Team and ensuring smooth collaboration across teams
Ensure project tracking data is kept up-to-date in Volta’s project management system
Support, manage, and ensure timely completion of project deliverables across Volta designers, third party design vendors, and utility and permitting jurisdictions
Support Volta's Construction Project Managers during project construction where engineering input is required
As needed, communicate with and support site host partners; obtain project approvals and maintain an operational relationship to ensure smooth delivery of the project
Regular travel is something you enjoy, as you’ll be spending time on site across your region (up to 40% of the time); overnight travel may be required on rare occasions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
3+ years in a commercial project design role
1+ years in a project or people management roleComfortable reading, understanding, and utilizing single line diagrams, electrical systems, civil and construction concepts to devise optimal design solutions
Experience working with engineering and permitting, and leading construction project design (telecomm, EV charging, solar, HVAC, utility, architectural, etc)
Self-motivated with a desire to encourage, inspire and bring out the best in others
You are organized and communicative
You are meticulous in project details and diligent in finding solutions
Must be comfortable working in an environment that requires changing pace, redirecting your thinking - you are excited to embrace new procedures
Strong computer skills that include CAD, Adobe suite, Microsoft Office and Salesforce (or similar CRM)

Knowledge and experience of EV charging systems and electrical infrastructure is a plus
