Job Description

SparkCharge seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer with a well-rounded electrical engineering background and demonstrated success in a technical leadership position. As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will take on a player-coach role. You will be hands-on when required and contribute technically when needed. You will also act as a mentor and lead the electrical engineering team across multiple, multi-disciplined development projects. Being successful in this role means that you can balance being a technical contributor as well as a technical mentor to your teammates. This position will report to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities:

● Establish and enforce clear goals and objectives for the electrical team across multiple development projects.

● Personally participate in hardware development, design reviews, test plans, and hardware debugging.

● Promote and reinforce electrical engineering best practices during all stages of hardware development.

● Provide mentorship and support to electrical engineers’ technical development and career path growth.

● Work with the Director of Engineering to specify, recruit, and hire electrical engineers, co-ops, and interns.

● Work with the Director of Engineering on annual budget forecasts.

● Drive cost-down exercises on product BOMs to prepare products for mass production.

Requirements

● Minimum of BS degree in Electrical Engineering, MS a plus.

● 8-10 years of full-time work experience in electronic hardware development. High power or EV hardware development experience a plus.

● At least three years of experience in an Electrical Engineering technical leadership role.

● Experience in all stages of hardware product development, from product inception to product launch.

● Fluency in circuit schematic capture and PCB layout software.

● Experience with electrical circuit modeling and simulation software.

● Experience designing electrical hardware to UL safety regulations.

● Demonstrated success in budgeting annual financial resources for a hardware development team.

● Demonstrated experience building out/hiring an electrical engineering team based on project needs.

● Experience driving electrical hardware cost-down exercises.

Nice to haves:

● EV or EV charger design experience.

● High voltage and/or power product design and launch experience.

● Expertise in Altium Designer.

● Expertise in Pspice Designer.

● Have shipped multiple products in medium to high volume quantities.

● Experience creating a hardware product receiving ETL / UL / CE certification.

● Experience specifying and developing IOT systems.

● Experience with Python, MATLAB.
