We currently have a need for a Senior Mechanical Process Engineer on the Cell Enginggering - Process Development team. As a member of this multifaceted group, the Senior Mechanical Process Engineer will use mechanical skills to design battery assembly tools and work with automation tools to make process improvements. Join us in an amazingly critical role that takes on a variety of interdisciplinary challenges!

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop tools and processes to stack and assemble multilayer batteries to meet specifications.
  • Drive the development of fixtures, secondary tooling, and QC test equipment
  • Drive design, development, and commissioning ramp of complex and custom high speed automated manufacturing equipment
  • Understand automation process and critical equipment functioning to integrate as continuous operations.
  • Work closely with a technician to operate automation tools. Develop and maintain operating procedures and work instructions
  • Work as a process engineer to test hypotheses by applying your knowledge of engineering statistics and design of experiment concepts to methodically plan and execute process experiments and yield conclusive results
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations.
  • Work with equipment vendors to ensure tool support is being provided during line-down situations.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for sophisticated issues and address root causes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or higher degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years experience with equipment design, automation, and integration from R&D to manufacturing

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with precision mechanism and tool design. Proficient with 3D CAD
  • You have hands-on experience in developing, characterizing, and troubleshooting processes and process-related equipment.
  • Knowledge of part fabrication techniques and experience with automation equipment
  • Organized in managing design specifications and documentation
  • Knowledge of statistical process control and repeatability/reproducibility techniques
