Our Calibration, Localization, and Mapping (CLAMS) team is responsible for building the algorithms and tools necessary for keeping Zoox vehicles well calibrated, always knowing where they’re located within the world, and aware of their environment. Without precise calibration, localization, and mapping our vehicles would be at a disadvantage when it comes to perceiving and reasoning about the surrounding world, and is therefore foundational in enabling results from many other teams across Zoox. This work is critical for scaling autonomous driving in a safe and reliable way. We are looking for engineers who are ambitious and excited about helping Zoox deliver on its goals to deliver autonomous mobility.

Together with the Localization team, you will develop offline validation software that will help measure the performance and stability of our pose systems. This will enable more efficient metric collection and analysis that will drive performance improvements that will allow our Localization systems to scale.

In this role, you will

  • Improve our Localization offline validation tooling by building upon our existing tooling and developing new validation software from scratch.
  • Understand and analyze Localization data to help determine future feature development and system analysis focus areas.
  • Help Localization scale as we continue to build more vehicles and drive more autonomous miles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 4 years of industry experience
  • Fluency in C++ or Python
  • Experience with robotics systems
  • Experience with software validation or analysis

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience developing large scale data analysis systems
  • Experience developing localization software
