Job Description

The Role:Our Marketplace team is looking for an Engineering Manager to help guide the delivery of our supply and demand experiences. Imagine an enterprise customer coming to Pachama to identify high-quality projects to select for offsetting some of their carbon footprint. Your team’s job is to educate, curate, connect, and transact using the latest technology and remote-sensing products at our disposal. 
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager that finds joy in getting great results from a strong, satisfied team. Managers who push forward initiatives by asking great questions, cultivating and developing a team, cutting through ambiguity, and organizing to win. We look for people who are relentlessly detail-oriented, methodical in their approach to understanding trade-offs, place the highest emphasis on building, and building quickly.
Location:This role is remote.

What You Will Help Us With:

  • Building trusting relationships with your direct reports to be able to help them grow
  • Nurturing the culture of performance to set the bar for speed and quality
  • Product reviews and ownership of the outcomes of the Marketplace team
  • Establishing the processes by which work gets done on the Marketplace Product teams
  • Strategic planning for budget and headcount
  • Running a healthy on-call rotation, setting up appropriate alerts, and resolving issues
  • Keeping the team running by resolving emergent blockers
  • Improving the way the team and organization makes decisions and gets things done
  • Motivating the team to focus on the biggest problems first and communicating why they’re important
  • Running hiring loops for open positions on the team

Experience & Skills We're Looking For:

  • Experience managing a small engineering team and growing it
  • Have been a senior software engineer on a high-performing team
  • Ability to communicate effectively and give honest feedback with empathy
