We work to illuminate possible paths toward a liberated, habitable and joyful future for people and the environment alike. In addition to daily weather newsletters in 20+ cities around the world, our original journalism focuses on climate justice and our full-service weather service provides timely meteorological services to individuals, businesses, and nonprofits.&nbsp;
But we're just getting started. Our new social media coordinator will help us reach a much larger audience around the world.&nbsp;
We&rsquo;ve seen massive surges of interest in our services in advance of major weather events, so the successful candidate must be able to coordinate with our editorial, partnerships, and weather teams to anticipate opportunities to help audiences discover our services when they are most valuable.&nbsp;
About the position:&nbsp;
Currently is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to manage Currently&rsquo;s social content for all platforms. The coordinator will work closely with the editorial team and marketing team to share news content as well as content from partners and marketing materials. The position will also require covering breaking weather news via social platforms, particularly Twitter. This coordinator will be responsible for managing analytics across social platforms.&nbsp;
Additionally, the successful candidate will help us identify, build, and monetize new audiences.

This position is initially 20 hours per week with flexible hours, and core hours between 1-4 PM EST. This position has the potential to be quickly expanded to a full-time role.
Position Responsibilities:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Develop and maintain an authentic and trustworthy public voice for a fast-growing weather service &mdash; providing messages that foster safety and joy in uncertain times</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Promote Currently web stories with social media posts</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Manage Currently&rsquo;s Twitter platforms and develop a presence on Instagram</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Plan and execute Twitter Spaces and other live online events</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Produce breakdowns of social media analytics, including setting key performance indicators and targets for growth</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Work with marketing team to develop social media marketing campaigns</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">We are a justice-focused weather service, and a successful candidate intuitively understands how weather affects every part of our lives &mdash; and how climate change creates and exacerbates inequalities in access to life-saving weather information</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Knowledge in climate change, weather and environmental justice issues</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ability to translate technical scientific information for the general public&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ability to work independently with minimal supervision</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Great attention to detail and organizational skills&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience running social media platforms, especially Twitter</li>
</ul>
Preferred Experience:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Fluency in Spanish</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Demonstrated experience writing short-form web articles</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience in breaking news coverage at an established journalism outlet</li>

Remote, work will focus on North America
Compensation: Starting salary: $25-35/hour &mdash; advancing to $50,000-$75,000 for full-time, with benefits.
This position will start as approximately half-time, but is anticipated to become full-time by the end of 2022. Once this position becomes full-time equivalent, it will include a generous benefits package including health care, retirement, and unlimited paid time off.
