What We Do Matters is a technology start-up working to drive citizen engagement in climate change adaptation. You will be joining us at an exciting and pivotal time. We have partnered with a leading Los Angeles foundation and other climate partners to release our MVP for testing. Our goal is to create a platform that will help engage LA residents to help the city reach its climate goals -- and ultimately expand to other cities throughout the world. You will be working with a small, passionate, fully remote team to tackle the largest challenge of our time. About The Role and Our Team

As the Content Lead, you will be responsible for creating and deploying programs that inspire residents to take meaningful climate action in their local communities and track their impact. These programs will be housed in the Dashboard.Earth app, and will also include email and push notification touchpoints. The ideal candidate is expert at writing pithy, engaging copy for a mobile environment and dedicated to creating, testing, and iterating on content with the goal of driving measurable behavioral change. The Program Content Manager will use their bilingual (Spanish/English) writing and speaking skills to generate and oversee the creation of high-quality, relevant articles, videos, and other resources in the Dashboard.Earth app - as well as contributing to partner and marketing communication. 

Other responsibilities include managing contractors, translators, content database, and working with other departments to deliver content for a range of projects and initiatives. 

Job Details

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Partnerships

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional local and out-of-state travel 

LOCATION:  Los Angeles, CA (Remote but must be based in LA) 


You will work primarily with the partnership team and cross-functionally with marketing and product teams to: 

  • Become an expert on the Dashboard.Earth platform’s climate adaptation actions producing bi-lingual content that aligns with the organization's focus on residents in L.A.
  • Write original content in a variety of formats, such as short-form articles, Q&As, video scripts, text messages, tips, action prompts, and conversation starters.
  • Create content that aligns with our brand voice and ensure the content is relevant and attuned to the needs of our bilingual audience.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organization to support content needs, including creating copy and proofreading.
  • Maintain and apply the style guide to all written materials.
  • Manage topic-focused content collections, updating resources and creating new pieces as needed.
  • Manage part-time contractors as needed. 
  • Work closely with existing partnerships team members to fulfill content partner deliverables. 
  • Become an expert in our content management system to publish program content on the app and be responsible for the timely and high-quality delivery of program content.
  • Stay on top of media trends, demographic changes, and challenges relating to climate change
  • Coordinate with partnership stakeholders to ensure that partner feedback is incorporated into partner content in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to enhance the CMS for internal and external stakeholders

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Background in content production/journalism/online content creation in English and Spanish, experience with apps is a bonus!
  • Domain expertise
  • 3+ years' experience in an editorial capacity; focus on environment.

  • Familiarity with media and pop culture trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to execute projects while working in a self-directed way, with priorities/deadlines that may shift quickly.
  • Ease in taking responsibility; highly reliable and accountable
  • Technical know-how, with experience using online content management systems and cloud-based software.
  • Solution-oriented team player with a lean-in attitude and enthusiasm to work in a small start-up environment
