The Opportunity and Position Summary

Rewiring America is growing rapidly. We are building a diverse and dynamic Research team with the aim of investigating, documenting, and sharing the full breadth of knowledge required to electrify our economy.

The Research Analyst will contribute to a broad range of our research agenda and play an integral role in supporting our Data Science team develop analytical tools that inspire people to take action on electrification.

This role reports to the Research Program Manager.

What You’ll Do

  • Help to build the Research team’s working knowledge of the full scope of opportunities and market barriers to electrification. Aim to understand the big picture and the ‘how and why’ that drives successful market transformation.
  • Translate data and evidence into useful things for your colleagues and Rewiring America’s growing audience, including the lay public.
  • Contribute to analytical models that integrate data and evidence with Rewiring America’s knowledge products and decision support tools.
  • Conduct swift and thoughtful ad-hoc analyses to meet the needs of the organization and our partners.
  • Keep excellent notes. Know where to find that one great quote or data point when you need it.
  • Document the limitations of the evidence you collect and the models you help to build.
  • Draft content for technical reports that summarize findings and methods. Be concise, but thorough.

As a Rewiring America Research Analyst, you will be driven by a belief in and commitment to our values, vision, and mission. As a Research Analyst, you will play a supportive role across the Research team as it grows out of its start-up phase. In this role you would help to drive this progress as we make further headway towards our nation’s electrification and climate goals

We are looking for the following Core and Preferred qualifications:

Core

  • Commitment to the mission, policies, and goals of Rewiring America.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical aptitude.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following:
    • Analytical tools such as Excel, Python, Pandas, or R
    • Visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or R Shiny.
    • Programming tools such as git/GitHub, APIs, SQL, Javascript, etc.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to synthesize and distill data and evidence to identify meaningful connections to a broader research agenda.
  • Demonstrated communication ability across formats with skill in delivering information in a concise and compelling manner.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in science, engineering, economics, or social science.

Preferred

  • Domain knowledge in climate, energy, environmental justice, public health, building science, utilities, and/or electrification.
  • Background in statistics and/or energy modeling.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a team environment related to research, analysis, and/or data science

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience. Rewiring America also offers a very generous and competitive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement benefits, paid vacation, sick time and holidays and access to professional development resources.
