We use industry-leading technology to measure the amount of carbon stored in terrestrial ecosystems.  Our state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms fuse data from multiple Earth observation satellites to provide accurate and scalable measurements of the carbon stocks and change in woody vegetation (forests, shrubs, and mangroves), anywhere in the world.

About the role 

We are looking for a talented and driven business development professional with a passion for nature & space tech, to foster the adoption of Chloris’ innovative technology by enterprises active in the voluntary carbon markets (VCM). You are excited about the opportunity to join a mission-oriented and high-potential start-up, anchored in pioneering Earth Observation science and laser-focused on delivering best-in-class data and technology for nature-based solutions. You bring experience in nature based solutions and/or in the voluntary carbon markets, either from the project development, project investment, or project rating side. The Carbon Markets Business Development Associate will report to the Head of Partnerships who oversees Business Development at Chloris, and will work closely with the Product and Marketing teams.

Responsibilities

Customer acquisition: 

  • Illustrate the value proposition of Chloris’ technology and data to prospective customers: product demos, customer business process integration 
  • Conduct customer research and identify new customers and use-case opportunities
  • Supporting the business development process and the maintenance of its systems

Success and Support of Chloris Customers:

  • Lead new client on-boarding process, in close collaboration with the Product Team
  • Provide ongoing support to existing customers of Chloris, including the coordination and delivery of custom analytical services / off-platform insights
  • Inform new and existing customers of new offerings and functionalities on Chloris Platform
  • Document processes and maintain department records and systems 

Qualifications 

  • Post-graduate degree in a relevant field (forestry, environmental sciences, geography) or undergraduate degree and additional relevant work experience
  • 3 years of professional experience, ideally  in voluntary carbon markets, forest & sustainable supply chains or related industries
  • Deep understanding of voluntary carbon markets and methodologies, and of the use cases of of spaceborne remote-sensing solutions for all market participants (e.g. project developers and investors, rating agencies, buyers, standard bodies, others)
  • Service- and customer-oriented mindset; exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Proficiency in office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express, in addition to Google Workspace 

Location + Time Commitment 

This is a full-time position.  Location is flexible with a preference for locations allowing  hybrid work from soemwhere in Western Europe or Boston, MA.  Chloris is a hybrid-first company with a transatlantic team based throughout Western Europe and the United States, concentrated near our Boston headquarters.
