Job Description

Company Overview

Flux Marine is a high-growth marine technology start-up that is designing electric outboard motors from the ground up without using legacy combustion engine parts. This approach ensures maximum system efficiency while minimizing maintenance, without compromising performance. Our technology has many applications including commercial, recreational, yacht tender, and defense markets.

Job Overview

In this role, you will work with the engineering team to identify key technical performance indicators and then design processes which test those indicators against a desired standard. The processes and protocols which you design will be used in component and system validation, from the prototype stage to final component release. Testing will occur in benchtop environments, on completed marine systems on land, and in real-life marine environments. Successful candidates will understand how testing and validation processes can enhance the pace of development, and how to rapidly achieve nominal test performance in complex evaluations using minimum-viable-product equivalents. We promote a hard work, high reward environment with tremendous opportunities for advancement within the company as we enter a period of hyper-growth. As a part of this role, you will have visibility into the other projects in development at the company and will regularly engage with the executives and founders on the progress of your work.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Own the testing of the Flux Marine product line, while working in close collaboration with the Engineering team to execute test protocols
  • Analyze available data (including existing marine standards such as ABYC, etc.) to understand opportunities for further validation, compliance, and overall system improvements
  • Collaborate with Powertrain, Structural, and Firmware engineers on design, simulation/testing, and integration
  • Present project progress and challenges during all-hands meetings
  • Sourcing and procurement of testing equipment, as required by test protocol development

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or demonstration of equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience working with validation of complex mechanical systems, across the product development lifecycle
  • Prior experience in the electric vehicle space and prior start up experience are both plusses
  • CAD proficiency, Autodesk Inventor preferred
