Director, Enterprise Sales and Customer Success (Hybrid)

Job Summary
The Director of Enterprise Sales and Customer Success will be responsible for (i) ensuring that all of NineDot Energy projects are fully-subscribed (all our battery storage bill credits are sold) as they come online; (ii) delighting our customers (subscribers) with our programs, service, support and communications; (iii) developing account growth strategies, where relevant; and (iv) building target account lists (including identifying entities that can take advantage of carbon emissions reductions for LL97 fine offsets, or reach LMI consumers to align with important incentive opportunities), so we continuously grow our subscriber pipeline to match the growth of our project pipeline. Overall, this is an outstanding opportunity to be the first true sales hire in a rapidly-growing, exciting, clean energy solutions startup, using your sales skills to close customer deals, while helping the full NineDot team build out a complete customer success program and mentality, all while supporting New York’s energy transition.
Responsibilities
- Identify prospects: Lead enterprise sales initiatives.Originate new accounts/customers, contacts and opportunities through (but not limited to) cold calling, email campaigns, targeted marketing, networking and participating in trade shows and conferences. Target subscribers will vary based on regulations and project. To be successful, the Director will need to identify a range of potential strategic partners such as organizations/subscribers representing Low to Moderate Income neighborhoods (eg. NYCHA), large enterprises, and potential landlords who need to offset carbon emissions due to LL97.
- Convert prospects to customers: Structure and close long-term subscription deals that serve the needs of prospective customers, from sustainability goals to financial targets. Utilize financial modeling principles to drive and discuss pricing. Negotiate credit prices and terms and prepare sales agreements. Be nimble and close shorter-term deals as the need or opportunity arises. Keep other prospects “warm”, through ongoing communications and responsiveness. Work with marketing, financing, analytics and others in the organization to create and implement the right tools and models to get the job done.
- Service and manage customer accounts: Working with our finance and partner management teams, ensure these contracts are translated into our billing systems and utility billing systems as appropriate. Manage and strengthen these strategic client relationships with insightful consultation and customer servicing. Maintain customer contact lists and account strategies through our CRM to help us nurture,support and grow our customer base.
- Monitor customer, competitor and market activity: Provide feedback to the company leadership team and other company functions. Review, translate, and monitor program details pertaining to electricity tariffs and electricity bills. Anticipate market innovations and work with customers to test new approaches.
- Participate: Engage with industry policy groups, maintaining relationships with policy stakeholders and staying abreast of market changes & news.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or technical areas (i.e. engineering)is required; Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy sales or business development including account management responsibilities
- Ability to negotiate subscription (offtake) agreements and other contract negotiation experiencePreferred: Strong network of relationships in businesses serving Low to Moderate Income communities is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to evaluate priorities and multi-task accordingly while keeping others apprised of status with respect to deadlines
- Detail and results-orientation with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast- paced, non-hierarchical, team-oriented and constantly- evolving environment
- Excellent personal organization and time management skillsRequired: Ability to handle multiple projects at one time, and prioritize workload
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion/history for clean energy projects
- Familiarity with retail energy programs (Community Distributed Generation & Remote Crediting) for Consolidated Edison and PSEG Long Island; knowledge of rates, tariffs, and service classifications
- Strong network of potential enterprise subscribers
- Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, Slack and CRM systems (ideally HubSpot)
- Experience with Asana and billing systems
