The Role

We are looking for an experienced Cost & Inventory Accounting Manager to manage our inventory-related accounting processes. You are a data-driven problem solver who is excited to support leadership with accurate records, impactful reporting, and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accountability for inventory and COGS accuracy.

  • Responsible for designing and maintaining controls related to hardware inventory and COGS. 

  • Responsible for the accounting of the bill of materials (BOM), and other costs related to hardware inventory (freight, contract labor, etc.). 

  • Overseeing inventory payables and inventory cost accruals. 

  • Owning the reconciliation of inventory movements from production to consumption (shipped, revenue recognized, used for research and development, etc.). 

  • Support profitability analysis of different product lines by sales channel. 

  • Work closely with Inventory Logistics and Contract Manufacturers for Cycle Counts and Annual Physical Counts.

  • Support in the month-end close, process improvements, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management.

  • Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Manufacturing experience with weighted average costing, standard costing and manufacturing variances, overhead and indirect absorption costs

  • Understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Ability to collaborate successfully with various stakeholders involved in our inventory process, including key business partners in supply chain and finance.

  • Strong financial analysis skills

  • Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data

  • Experience with NetSuite

  • Analytical thinker with attention to details and strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to tick-and-tie data across multiple data sources and ensure accuracy and completeness of data 

  • Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, etc.)

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making

  • Experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and inspiring others while ramping up in a new business and role in a complex environment

  • Excellent knowledge and proven track record in assessing, developing, and implementing internal controls

  • Excitement around navigating a hyper-growth, rapidly changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment

Bonus Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

  • Prior experience working at a Big 4 firm 

  • Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidations

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $100,000 - 162,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
