About the Role

Sunstone is seeking a Financial Operations Associate to join our team! As a member of the Financial Operations team, you’ll report directly to the manager of Financial Operations and help grow Sunstone’s banking partnerships, support loan operations, improve cash management, and accomplish essential projects. You will be responsible for daily cash flow transactions between our financing partners, installers, and vendors, including loan portfolio servicing, solar installer funding requests, project milestone cash disbursements, borrower remittances, and reporting.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong interest in operational support and client service.  The ideal candidate wants to be a team player with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.  This position requires a high level of organization, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication skills.  To succeed at Sunstone, all team members need to be comfortable working in a fast-past environment with the ability to handle multiple competing tasks beyond the scope of the job description to ensure Sunstone’s success. Expect significant autonomy in a quickly evolving role and industry to help us build an agile, partner-focused, and value-driven company. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic perspective and insights on loan operation activities while acting as the voice of the customer and financial partners to help Sunstone continue to refine its products and lending platforms
  • Demonstrate success in relationship management, with a track record of expanding business with partners
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines, providing updates to internal and external partners independently
  • Write new and update existing policies and procedures
  • Conduct research into issues, make recommendations to revise our partner support model and drive to a well-thought-out conclusion
  • Onboard new financial partners and financial programs

  • High level of organization, with the understanding of how to prioritize competing tasks
  • Ability to work autonomously in a quickly evolving role and industry
  • Exceptional attention to detail and willingness to dig into the details
  • Strong written communication skills and effective verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility, with an openness to jump into new challenges and assist where needed

 

Key Qualifications

  • Two or more years of previous financial services or FinTech experience
    • Experience in a lending, servicing, or compliance capacity is a plus
  • A four-year college degree
    • MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • Thrive in situations that require initiative, thinking on your feet, and adaptation; excited to build something new and do something for the first time
    • Previous experience in a startup environment is a plus
  • Able to work in person at our Baltimore office 2 to 3 days per week
