Job Description
Primary Job Functions:
DexMat has experienced a strong period of growth and has just closed its seed round of funding to scale up at an even more rapid pace. We will be doubling headcount and scaling up all company activities so we are seeking someone to support our operations and R&D team and to help scale our Galvorn fiber production line by more than 10x. From Day 1, this person will have an immediate impact on our success by designing parts and procedures, performing equipment installation and repairs, maintaining and operating various laboratory and industrial equipment, and assisting with the execution of fiber production runs. The ideal candidate will have proven success in an engineering role, with experience in design and fabrication of parts and equipment and a hands on approach to solving technical problems.
Objectives of this Role:
- Help design and develop future generations of the the Galvorn fiber production line
- Identify opportunities to improve current processes and procedures
- Develop more efficient processes by upgrading tooling and equipment
- Help meet deliverables for wide range of projects
Responsibilities
- Install, start-up and commission the next generation fiber production line
- Evaluate fiber production equipment’s overall performance, reliability and safety
- Design, develop/manufacture, and analyze prototypes and revisions of equipment
- Verify designs through quick, valid and accurate engineering analyses
- Be prepared to work with corrosive chemicals after receiving training
- Provide training and support to fellow co-workers
- Minimize costs and increase production throughput through new design, simplification, etc.
- Write and check technical engineering documentation, such as equipment SOPs
- Participate in internal design review meetings being aware of commercial implications
- Occasionally attend and participate in client meetings
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (especially Mechanical Engineering) is required.
- Ability to multi-task across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing
- Ability to create engineering documents and drawings to enable manufacture without ambiguity
- Ability to communicate effectively, accept responsibility and handle multiple projects is essential
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong sense of agency and ownership
- Humility and curiosity to thrive in a rapidly learning organization
Experience:
- Two years of engineering work experience is desirable
- Familiarity with design and installation of industrial equipment like pressure vessels, process piping, heat exchangers, agitators, etc.
- Familiarity with the design of rotating machines like pumps, motors, agitators, winders, etc.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
- Experience in the manufacturing environment or some hands-on lab / machine shop experience is desirable
- Experience with machining parts
