Pre-Construction Manager - East Coast

Key responsibilities will include:

• Drive pre-construction activities including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review, subcontractor negotiations, and building final project budgets.
• Liaison between the business development, engineering, and project management teams to ensure internal stakeholders are aligned throughout the pre-construction phase of each project.
• Grow Scale’s existing partner base by building relationships with new and existing contractors and vendors.
• Drive material procurement across multiple projects with a focus on meeting schedule deadlines and staying within budget.
• Produce detailed and accurate scopes of work to aid in contractor pricing. Ensure internal and external stakeholder requirements are captured in the scope.
• Use industry knowledge and experience to create early-stage project budgets based on conceptual scope.
• Prioritize and execute budget development, contractor pricing, and material procurement for multiple projects in various geographic locations, simultaneously.

The Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of experience in Construction Management, general contracting, logistics, engineering, energy industry, or military experience, with an emphasis on budgeting, cost estimating, and procurement.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and contractors specifically in the electrical construction and distributed energy field.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
• Have the initiative to work autonomously and be comfortable representing SMS in customer-facing situations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
