This is a fully remote role and is strongly preferred to be based in London, but other locations can also be considered.

What are the main responsibilities of the role? 

As Legal Counsel you will be working directly with our COO & General Counsel across a wide-array of tasks required to setup and scale an early-stage company. We need someone who is excited to get their hands dirty, to work broadly, and who gets energy from building new things and getting stuff done. 

The role will include but not be limited to:

• Providing legal support to various internal departments
• Working with outside counsel to structure deals and confer on regulatory issues, as required
• Negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and financing instruments
• Structuring and managing project financing transactions
• Taking preemptive measures to avoid legal risks and conflicts
• Keeping abreast of the regulatory landscape (carbon regulations among others)

• An understanding of nature-based solutions is desirable but not a must

Required Qualifications

• Qualified to practice law in England & Wales or New York or California
• 3-6 years post qualification experience in private practice or in-house
• Proven track record in project finance, debt/equity finance and general corporate/ commercial is essential
• Experience with carbon finance a plus
• Experience in emerging markets a plus
