Summer Intern, Clean Energy Transaction Innovation

Why Intern with CEBA?  
As an intern, you will gain professional skills and experience in a non-profit business association while working alongside our world-class team. You will have a birds-eye view of how system change can be accomplished and will grow to understand the daily tasks and activities that will get us there.  

 

Interns learn about clean energy including how energy customers across all sectors, like Google, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and Citi are shifting the energy system, while building professional skills across a wide range of topics within the clean energy space. 

 

Internship Overview/Summary:  

As an intern with the Transaction Acceleration Group, you will support work focused on solving clean energy transaction barriers for commercial and industrial energy customers – these may include challenges related to clean energy project finance, stakeholder engagement and coordination, and/or access to relevant financial and educational resources. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, an excellent written and oral communicator, a strong secondary source researcher, and has some experience or interest in clean energy transactions and project finance.  

 

Core Intern Responsibilities: 

• Conduct research related to clean energy procurement for industrial manufacturers, small to medium companies, and sub-investment grade companies 
• Conduct market segmentation research on prospective clean energy customers lacking investment-grade credit  
• Support development of new educational resources and related events (e.g., primers, webinars, and workshops) 

• Other duties as assigned 

 

Required Qualifications 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Able to work effectively with others in a collaborative, supportive environment 

• Eligible to work in the U.S. 

 

Preferred or Additional Qualifications: 

• Experience with clean energy transactions and project finance and/or domestic manufacturing and supply chains.  
• Passion for learning and attention to detail  
• Self-motivated and dynamic workstyle

• Political and stakeholder landscape research  
• Stakeholder relationship management  
• Clean energy market research 

• Greenhouse gas accounting (methods and recognition frameworks)  
• Research and development of grant proposals  
• Small-to-medium businesses engaging in CFE procurement (particularly on-site) 
• SBTi/RE100 requirements  
• Retail choice  

 

Internship Structure: 

• Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
• Benefits: Interns are not eligible for benefits including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and paid sick time. Interns receive pro-rated holiday pay during CEBA’s organization-wide holidays. 
• Educational credit: Eligibility for credit is determined by your educational institution. 
• Schedule: 40 hours/week. Weekly schedule to be determined with your supervisor, capped at 40 hours.  

• Orientation: All interns are required to virtually attend two welcome and orientation sessions. Exceptions may be considered after hire.  
• Content: Interns work directly with CEBA’s programs and quickly become an important part of the team. You work with a supervisor who guides daily work, and a Mentor who ensures a positive experience and continual growth. Interns will identify 2-3 key objectives which are intended to be met throughout the course of the internship, agreed upon with your Supervisor, to ensure a mutually beneficial internship experience.
