Job Description

META is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer for our facility in Harwell, UK to support the PLASMAfusion® team in developing a novel, ultra-high throughput vacuum deposition technology with applications in batteries, optical metasurfaces and more.


What You'll Do:

The Power Electronics Engineer will design and develop a high voltage, high power pulsed generator to deploy into an upcoming vacuum deposition pilot manufacturing line.


Some of the typical responsibilities will include:

  • Optimize a high voltage, high current, pulsed power generator driving a proprietary plasma deposition system
  • Analyse and optimize the current driving circuitry ensuring improvement in throughput, reliability, repeatability and traceability
  • Drive the entire life cycle of the product from working prototype to certification
  • Manage procurement and delivery of all the components required for a new build
  • Ensure process documentation is up-to-date and readily available on the informatic system
  • Assist partners and collaborators in the UK, US, Canada or anywhere necessary in scaling-up the technology
  • Travel to partners and collaborators sites when needed and on short notice


Minimum qualifications:

  • Electronics Engineering related Diploma or Degree
  • Three years experience as an Electronics Engineer
  • Three years hands-on experience working with high voltage (10kV) power systems from conception to production 
  • Rapid prototyping  
  • Design for manufacturing

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master or PhD in Electronics Engineering related to High Voltage Power systems
  • Five years experience as an Electronics Engineer
  • Experience in designing of high voltage/high current systems
  • Experience collaborating with large customers and partners
  • Experience with product certification of high voltage, high current systems
