Job Description

About the Role 

We are seeking a Project Manager for our facility in Pleasanton, California. You will be a key member of the Research and Development team that develops new technologies and products based on functional nanostructured coatings fabricated using proprietary Rolling Mask Lithography (RML®) equipment and process technology. Your role will be to manage META’s novel transparent conductive film (Nanoweb®) technologies, including prototype development, test and validation for 5G communication and transparent antenna systems, EMI shielding and heater applications. This role includes identifying technical objectives for the team, satisfying customer requirements by creating and implementing a clear technical development plan for each project.

Some of the typical responsibilities will include: 

  • Plan and execute engineering projects for forefront and next generation of advanced material and metamaterial technologies and applications.  
  • Partition complex problems into manageable subdivisions and ensure goals are met in various categories including customer satisfaction, safety, quality and performance; 
  • Act as the customer contact for program activities and may lead program review sessions with customers to discuss ideation, cost, schedule, and technical performance. 
  • Contribute to the product roadmap, defining requirements, and delivering new product prototypes to help META grow our customer base.  
  • Assess compatibility of existing nano and micro-structured design solutions with META’s fabrication capabilities and propose novel approaches for large-scale and high-throughput fabrication and characterization across multiple projects. 
  • Participate in the assessment of the fabricated structures for reliability, stability, and robustness (thermal, environmental, mechanical) for various applications, and provide alternative material/design strategies to improve current systems.    

 

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Masters or PhD in engineering, science, or a related technical field as well as 11 or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least 5 of those years managing programs. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. 
  • Strong ability to prepare proposals, execute contracts, prepare technical and financial reports. 
  • Ability to manage dynamic program schedules; achieve program objectives on time and within budget. 
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones. 
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives. 
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment 

 

Preferred qualifications and experience 

  • Technical experience in metamaterials, manufacturing, and platform applications. 
  • Experience in design and optimization of nanostructured optical systems using computational simulation tools and analytical models. 
  • Experience with IP portfolio development and management.
