Job Description

Based in Grenoble (France), we are currently establishing our Verkor Innovation Centre (R&D centre and 4.0 pilot line).
In the coming years, we will focus on building the world’s most modern and efficient Gigafactory in Dunkirk (France). With this facility, our ambition is an initial annual production of 16 Gwh of lithium-ion batteries by 2025, thus powering 300,000 electric vehicles annually and creating 1200 direct jobs.

The Sr. mechanical cell design engineer will be the owner of the mechanical parts design and its product/process integration. Will drive the design from concept (pre-A) to D sample, validating and reviewing the design with relevant stakeholders stage by stage. Acts as mentor to fellow mechanical cell design engineers. Will lead parallel innovation projects unrelated to a costumer project.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Prepare the mechanical design for its assigned project with mentorship of lead or senior Eng.
  • Identify and meet special costumer requirements pertaining Mechanical design.
  • Follow up with validation of mechanical components.
  • Product/ process integration (Design reviews process drawings, etc.)
  • Interface with supplier of mechanical parts for technical and quality discussions.

Prerequisites :

  • Bachelors or master’s in mechanical, materials, or similar engineering
  • 6+ years of experience preferably in battery, module, electronics, or sheet metal industry
  • Experience driving at least 1 project from A sample to SOP.
  • Ability to solve complex topics.
  • Experience or ability to work in a cross functional team.
  • Strong skills in CAD and statistical approaches
  • Design experience in relevant cell format
  • Self-driven able to follow up on tasks with no supervision.
  • Expert or experience on cell manufacturing
