To reach our goal we are looking for a Backend Developer to join our Backend Team.  At Qwello you will design and implement new backed services (typically in Python and some growing number in Rust) to support our growing fleet of self-designed/built charging stations being deployed Europe wide. You are also designing and implementing backend to backend systems connecting the Qwello systems with the services of partners of Qwello. In that role you are responsible for high quality, low bug design & implementation. Reliability and craftsmanship are important to you, so you design with automatic testability, resilience, introspection & observability in mind. Security is important to you. You are an efficient engineer, focused on fast execution of your craft. You are a good communicator, free thinker, have an inquisitive mind-set and an eye for detail. You are comfortable working in a startup, collaborating in an interdisciplinary team, and willing to contribute, in whatever way, with your skills, experience and enthusiasm to help us build a successful business. Your Responsibilities 🚀

  • Design and implement new backed services and serverless code in Python and Rust
  • Take part in execution planning, code reviews, design reviews and hiring
  • Maintain and improve the Qwello backend as part of the backend team
  • Work in close collaboration with our partners to integrate our services with theirs
  • Take  ownership, along with the rest of the team, for building and refining our service as the business expands

Your Profile ✨

  • Proven experience as a Software Developer implementing complex, larger projects
  • Efficient expert level Python skills
  • Experience with Rust as a development language would be a big plus, willingness to learn it a must
  • Experience with designing and implementing distributed systems
  • Off-premise cloud experience, preferably AWS, but Azure, Google Cloud or similar is also great
  • A make-it-happen attitude, helping the team to deliver on changing the world from combustion to electric
  • Ability to self-organize in an environment of changing priorities; willingness to work on multiple tasks/content switching
  • Fluency in English, German language knowledge is a nice to have
