Rubi is ushering in an entirely new planet-positive era for manufacturing. Our vision is a world where human prosperity is planet-positive, and manufacturing is symbiotic with Earth. Our mission is to build the world’s most sustainable supply chains for the important materials we rely on; including textiles, building materials, food, packaging, and more. 

Rubi decarbonizes supply chains, starting with the fashion industry.  Inspired by how trees breathe in CO2, Rubi uses biochemical processes powered by enzymes at an industrial scale to “eat'' carbon emissions and make carbon-negative, resource-neutral textiles for the fashion industry.   Within the last year alone, Rubi’s game-changing technology has captured the interest of the scientific community, top investors, and the world’s most influential fashion brands.  It has partnerships with global fashion brands and manufacturers and has been featured in Vogue Business and TechCrunch. 

As Rubi Laboratories is growing, we are building our amazing team to cover all the scientific realms needed by our technology and currently we are looking to bring on a Chief of Staff whose goal is to build out early company functions and systems. This position will partner closely with our CEO and executive team to help take Rubi Laboratories to the next level. Most importantly, your work will play a key impact for our product and how widely accessible this carbon-negative material is available to exciting, and well-known brands.  You thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and are passionate about dedicating your craft to the betterment of the world. 

In this role you will: 

  • Work closely with the CEO to develop and execute the company's strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and build new operating functions for the business.
  • Champion initiatives to optimize workflows, encourage cross-team collaboration, and evoke innovation across the company.  
  • Advise executive team on company wide and strategic initiatives, leaning on data to make your recommendations.
  • Implement of operational systems and apply change management across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to track and monitor progress towards company goals.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across teams to ensure goals are aligned and achieved.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. 

Qualified candidates have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or economics. 
  • 7+ years of experience in product management or business operations with 2+ years' experience working within a start-up environment.  
  • Proven track record of scaling up organizations and bringing structure and systems to companies. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement creative solutions.  
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of a company and externally with empathy. 
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with external partners. 

Nice to have but not required: 

  • Technical background or experience in science, engineering, or research.  
  • Strong project management skills and/or a PMP certification.  
  • Passion for sustainability and the ability to inspire and empower others towards our mission.

  • Compensation: $150,000-200,000 annually, actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and geographic location.

This position is located in our San Leandro, CA headquarters and requires on-site presence to complete required work described. Rubi Laboratories is unable to offer relocation assistance at this time for this position.
