About the role 

We are looking for a talented forest carbon analyst to support the deployment of Chloris’ innovative technology by enterprises active in the voluntary carbon markets. You have training in forest mensuration, forest inventories, or ecosystem science, with hands-on experience in applying this knowledge to carbon accounting in either the voluntary carbon markets, corporate greenhouse gas accounting, or carbon reporting under the UNFCCC. You are experienced in the use of geographical information systems for spatial analysis, and understand the use of remote sensing data for forest carbon accounting.  You are excited about the opportunity to join a mission-oriented and high-potential start-up, anchored in pioneering science and focused on delivering best-in-class data and technology for nature-based solutions. The Forest Carbon Analyst will report to the Head of Partnerships and will work closely with the Data Science team.

Responsibilities

Product validation

• Run analysis using current VCM and MRV methodologies
• Quality assessment of customer data (field data and/or airborne LiDAR)
• Run validation analysis of Chloris products using independent data

• Present and communicate in clear way results and analysis

Customer Success

• Prepare analyses and communicate results to customers
• Act as content expert within the Customer Success team and engage directly with customers
• Take on project management responsibilities for the delivery of data to customers.

Thought Leadership

• Develop content (both qualitative and quantitative) regarding Chloris’s capabilities, competitive landscape, leading trends/approaches in forest and ecological sciences, and voluntary carbon market, for educational and marketing purposes.

Qualifications 

• Post-graduate degree in forest sciences, forest resources management, or equivalent (or undergraduate degree and additional relevant work experience)
• 3 years of professional experience, ideally  in voluntary carbon markets, forest & sustainable supply chains or related industries
• Highly desirable: experience in the design, verification, or validation of forestry projects in the carbon markets; facility with VCM approaches and methodologies; experience in the design and/or implementation of spaceborne remote-sensing solutions for forest carbon baselining and MRV
• Knowledge of statistical software packages (R preferred)
• Knowledge of geographical information systems (QGIS preferred)
• Service- and customer-oriented mindset; exceptional interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Proficiency in office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express, in addition to Google Workspace 

Location + Time Commitment 

This is a full-time position.  Location is flexible with a preference for locations allowing  hybrid work from  Boston, MA.  Chloris is a hybrid-first company with a transatlantic team based throughout Western Europe and the United States, concentrated near our Boston headquarters.
